    1. I read this to my 5-yr-old. Fun stories, except the last one was a little gruesome. It's interesting how the original Little Mermaid did not have a happy ending - not exactly. The prince does end up marrying someone else (at least it wasn't the sea witch), but the little mermaid does end up with an immortal soul (supposedly, only humans have an immortal soul).

    2. The Little Mermaid is such a classic, and this book does it justice. However, the ending in this story is different than the ending that most people/children know and love. Some of the other tails in here could probably be a bit frightening and gruesome to a young child. I would still use this in a classroom because it can be a book that a child would decide to read on his or her own.

    3. Nice bunch of tales :) Really enjoying reading the stories this series has pulled together, and the illustrations aren't that bad either ;)

    4. I really felt sad when I found out at the end that the Mermaid became sponge. I watched the Disney version first before I read this book. I think that was the reason I felt so sad.

    5. A children’s illustrated edition of several fairy tales. Actually has the classic version of the tales, not the sanitized Disney versions.

    6. Round 2 with Andersen's fairy tales. I can't believe how much my 6-year old likes them. I figured they'd be a little too dark and grusome for her.
