    1. After reading Julia Child’s charming memoir “My Life in Paris,” I decided to re-read a book about another great American food lover, “Between Friends: M.F.K. Fisher and Me,” by Jeannette Ferrary. Childs’ book was actually written by one of her great-nephews, but was based on many interviews, is written in the first person (and, moreover, in her “voice”), and apparently satisfied Julia enough for it to be confidently considered a memoir.     2. The Preface to the Second Edition is dated "Summer 1988", while the Preface to the First Edition is dated "Spring 1991". (What small minded bean counter notices these things?)This is a book about love at least as much as a book about food. (Same thing, I guess you could say?) A book for people who have friends and share things with them: food, stories, feelings.I don't feel I can write about it better than Ferrary already does, so I'm just going to quote from those 2 prefaces, whatever order the [...]

    3. She lived just a few blocks from me in St. Helena. I love how she always made a meal while no one noticed on visits to her Glen Ellen home, throwing melons out the window for compost, parties at the Stanford Court Hotel in SF.

    4. I really love MFK Fisher's books and this gave me an inside view of her and a frienship later in her life.
