    1. eh was okmetimes i feel like the poetry in this thing was picked because of it's shock value, not necessarily because it's really good poetry. there's one poem in there that i really liked, "That's Not in My Job Description" by Paul Beatty. It's about a black guy (I'm assuming Beatty is black) and it's pretty funny. :) i loved it.we'll seepoetry is sometimes difficultl the poets in this book had to be born since 1960 i guess the premise here is that it's "New Poetry"i like it, but i'm still a li [...]

    2. This anthology covers a lot of ground. I used it as a required reading when I taught The Craft of Poetry. There was something for everyone in this book. It is slowly getting outdated, and the poets included in it are not so "new" anymore but really, it is still a fantastic read and a great introduction to different styles. I would recommend this as a textbook to any teachers interested in introducing contemporary writers to their students.

    3. reading this book (my first strand purchase), in high school, was what led to me to first fall in love with karen volkman, d.a. powell, and then, poetry.
