    1. I would like to thank Margaret Sarah Bechtel for sending me a copy of this book. In The Land of Winter is the debut novel of Margaret Sarah Bechtel and while it does show promise, I feel there are a few elements of the story that drag down the reading experience. In The Land of Winter is a story about a young woman named Kate who, due to being haunted by the ghosts of her past, decides to move from New York to Scotland in order to start fresh. During the flight there, the plane crashes and she is [...]

    2. From fisheramelie:Margaret Sarah Bechtel’s In The Land Of Winter is one of those novels that immediately cast a biting, eerie chill up my skin, making me shudder, though I wasn’t cold. Her cover, dramatic and mesmerizing, much like her writing style, drew me in from the first. It packed such an impact, I could almost hear the wind whistling through my ears and waves crashing against rock, hypnotized by the beacon of light emitting from its light house. That’s also how I found miss Bechtel [...]

    3. 'In the Land of Winter' is a great read! The author shows a great style in the way she took two unlikely characters in a desolate place and had them interact and and live under such harshs conditions was well done. The two characters were such opposites it was intriguing to see how they would last through their ordeal. Spellbinding at times and always moving. Would they find love?-- that's what I kept asking myself. You must read to find out. I am looking forward to reading more from Bechtel. Gr [...]

    4. Lately I've been reading books of moving on and letting go.And this is that but believe me, there is more!"Have you ever made a mistake that wrecked your whole life? That tore you into a million little pieces? That destroyed who you were and turned you into something empty?"Margaret!! can we please!say WOW! together! This book got to me in so many levels as many books have but at the same time as no other book did! While reading this I got so mad with Kate that I was afraid I might actually throw [...]

    5. What a great story! Definitely a roller-coaster of emotions. Kate London and Lex Harris are on the same flight going to Scotland. Lex just trying to pass time, tries talking to Kate who looks a little (a lot) uptight. He thinks maybe she's afraid to fly, but she is trying to flee what's burdening her mind. The plane goes down, and they are the only two survivors. Lex is trying to spend all his time planning a way to escape the desolate island and Kate is trying to spend all her energy to stay pu [...]

I have read another book by her before called "Learning in the Dark" and it was AMAZING! You can see my review for that 4.5 STAR book here. I am going to rate "In the Land of Winter" 4.5 STARS as well. I look forward to more books by Ms. Bechtel in the future because she is such a talented writer. Her stories ar [...]

    7. I absolutely loved “In The Land of Winter”. It was beautiful and a heart touching story, on that I found to be a mesmerising story of love and survival. The story only took me two days to read as I could not put it down. Kate was a really interesting character and she was a big influence for me to keep reading. Her past drew me in. The nightmares only revealed so much but enough to keep me hanging and wanting more. Another thing I liked about Kate was the way she reacted to certain things th [...]

    8. Kate and Lex go through so much together throughout this entire book! One minute they are arguing on a plan destined for Scotland and the next they are isolated on a long forgotten island 100 miles away from the mainland. They had to learn to trust each other if they were going to survive…and for Kate that was no small task. Coming from a background of hurt and loneliness is not something you over come easily. But together Lex and Kate overcome their pasts and help each other to find a better [...]

    10. Kate London, a woman hiding not only from herself but from a horrible mistake is one of only two survivors from a plane that has crashed on an isolated island off Scotland’s rocky coast. Kate and fellow survivor Lex Harris have to work together to keep their minds and bodies from being destroyed by physical injuries as well as desperation.Bechtel makes isolation and self-loathing into villains in her novel. The pace is slow enough to feel the realism of depression on both counts as well as Kat [...]

I thought this was exceptional written book that keeps you glued to its pages as you flown into Kate and Lex's world as a flight away from the past and towards a new future bring these two people together as a tragic plane crash maroons them on a island. Will Kate be able to let go of the past? Can Lex help Kate find the love she needs? Will they be found before its to late? 13. I won In The Land of Winter from a give away. It is very well written and easy to get into the story.Kate and Lex are the only survivors of a plan crash and end up desperately trying to survive in an abandoned lighthouse in Scotland. Both of them end up seriously injured on various occasions and are constantly switching roles as patient/caretaker. Her past and their future seem to be the running theme of the book all the way to the very end. There were a few times I was frustrated with the story [...]

    14. This book has two main character, Kate and Lex. After a plane crash in the North Sea, they are the only survivors. I loved Lex, seemed like the type of person I would be friends with. Didn't like Kate, thought she was whiney and grumpy. But then I found out why!Margaret Sarah Bechtel's debut novel introduces her as a developing new author and I am sure that as time passes and her writing grows, she will become a well known author for her ability to be able to write a whole novel based on just tw [...]

    15. This is a very interesting book. I loved the characters and finding out about them. I would be very happy to have a LEX with me if I were stranded. This is an intense book, but also funny at times. I would definitely recommend this book to others.Do I need to say I really liked the book? Okay, I DID! LoLI can't wait to read the sequel, and I get to edit it!!! (I didn’t edit this one.)COLGATE or AQUAFRESH.

    16. This book was a good read. I enjoyed finding out why the heroine acted like she did and was pleasingly surprised by all of it. I am looking forward to reading whatever else Margaret Bechtel writes.I learned from this book that you can't judge a person by the first impressions, you have to be around them long enough to really see what makes them tick.

    17. I literally had this book read in 2 days because it was that good! Fast paced, lots of excitement, tons of twist and turns. Its got some pretty heavy issues the main character is dealing with. The endingOMG leaves you begging for the next book!
