    1. Such a great book. Too bad there are not more people like Jeb in this world, it would be a better place.

    2. I summarize the theme of the first book as "growth," the second as "endurance," and this third as "hypocrisy." Analytically, I would give this book 5 stars, but subjectively, I just didn't enjoy it as much as the previous stories. This is a more serious and dark book containing less warmth and humor than its predecessors. It also contained less focus on my beloved Welbys, since it seemed to be more of a Lucky and Myrtle story. When it comes to race relations, we begin to see a lot of huge chinks [...]

    3. Pretty good. I like the words she uses and the way she puts them together. For some reason, I read this, the 3rd in the series first. I liked it well enough to start the series at the beginning. May want to read this one again after reading the first two. maybe not.

    4. Not bad Christian literature series. Reminds me a little of the Mitford series but not as well written. Good depiction of depression era racial issues in the Deep South.
