    1. Loved it, loved it, loved it! As a teacher who has temporarily “hung up her gloves”, I could relate to many of the trials and tribulations that Mason Beehinder, or Lefty, faced in her apple cultivating career. So many of the interactions recounted by Lefty were familiar, memories that brought both teary eyes and bursts of loud laughter. I have spent many hours pondering and discussing the problems I see with the current educational system, reading authors such as John Holt and John Taylor Ga [...]

    2. I recommend this book to students, educators and tax payers This is the first review that I’ve written, so I am not quite sure what I am suppose to say, except; I recommend this book to students because, I hope that you will be able to place yourself within this book. Reading it from the point of view of Mrs. Paine as a teacher first, will help you understand what it is like for a teacher teaching you, what type of student are you willing to be for the work that it takes helping to raise you u [...]

    3. Madison Paine's "The Poisoned Apple" is a spot-on allegory for the problems in our education system today. Paine's "cultivator" heroine, Lefty, takes on orchard administrators, superintendents and managers with their trends and new methods in an effort to rear healthy fruit for the public -- much as teachers are intended to do with students.I think that the public at large would benefit if "The Poisoned Apple" were made mandatory reading for all education majors and parents entering their childr [...]

    4. My opinion: This is a very well-written story. It is easy to follow as events unfold and easy to see the correlation between the orchard and its workers and the US educational system. This is definitely something teachers and students need to read.Overall: 4.8 stars
