    1. Though I read it many years ago, The Seven Hills of Paradise has stuck in my mind as one of the best books I have ever read. It is outstanding in its treatment of political intrigue, and the contrast it draws between the urbane citizens of Constantinople and the Crusaders is equally memorable. It has had a tremendous influence on me, setting the standard for what I think historical fiction should be. It's time for me to reread it!

    2. I had the pleasure of working with Rosemary at Paideia school in Atlanta, GA. and I was very impressed with this book. It takes the reader to 13th century France and follows the Fourth Crusade to Constantinople. Meticulously researched and well-written, I was drawn into the story and impressed with the characters. Though I read this over 15 years ago, I still have vivid memories of scenes and characters from this novel.

    3. Author's take on the 4th Crusade--the so-called Sack of Constantinople in April 1204. Constantinople is that other "City on Seven Hills." The author based much of her novel on the eyewitness account of a French crusader, Geoffrey de Villehardouin. Interesting for that reason.
