    1. I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Bree Verity! This is a sweet romantic story set in France during the revolution. It has everything a romance should have. Intrigue, context, and drama. What I found the author did well was represent the tension the French Revolution brought between the peasants and the nobles. It felt very real when reading it, and gave justification to Celeste's fears throughout the novel.I believe that this book could hav [...]

    2. I really enjoyed the story of Celeste, who is used to living the high life in Paris, hiding out at her cousin's rural property. It was great to see the chemistry between Marcus and Celeste build through the book. Louise is a truely lovely character and she proves herself to be a true friend to Celeste. Celeste comes to love the simple life of the village and the people who populate it. A lovely tale.

    3. Being a of nobility during the French Revolution and accused of murdering her husband, Celeste, Duchesse de Saint Tours is on the run. She finds respite, although reluctantly, with her distant cousin Marcel Daunou. Celeste has to live as a peasant but feels she cannot wait to return to Paris and take her rightful place. Marcel feels the pressure of making sure she is not recognized because it would be terrible consequences for his family if she is found out. As they being working together feelin [...]

    4. 3.5/5.0From the onset, the reader is drawn into the story even though Celeste is very spoiled and self- absorbed, which leaves little room for sympathy. Read full review in the 2017 October issue of InD'tale Magazine.

    5. This isn't the type of book I would generally pick up to read, but I was gifted a print copy of the book by the author, with no obligation to review.I enjoyed the historical setting of the novel, however while I know that the genre of the book is historical romance, I feel that the romance was heavier than the history. For a book set in the lead up to the French Revolution, I feel that perhaps a bit more history could have been included to make the book a bit "meatier". I realise the author is p [...]

    6. This certainly isn't the type of book I would typically choose to pick up but I really wanted to try something a bit different. I enjoyed the historical setting of the novel thoroughly as it's one I haven't actually immersed myself in very much, but came to really enjoy and muster an interest in. I think the setting was portrayed predominately well overall throughout, particularly with the two main protagonists. The characters were definitely all standouts in the novel as well. Each had their ow [...]

    7. Disclaimer: I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed are my own.Celeste is about to be unjustly arrested for her husband’s murder. She needs a quiet place to hide out while her lawyers gets things sorted out. Marcel is her cousin. He has a little farm in the French countryside. It’s the perfect solution . . . If these two don’t kill each other first. What a fun book! Like most romances, the question wasn’t whether these two would g [...]

    8. I didn't go into this book with high hopes as I don't often like romance novels and the cover certainly screams romance but I was more than pleasantly surprised. It wasn't the Instalove I had predicted. Celeste and Marcel had their share of problems, and it was a real romance, well as real as it can get from the pages of a book. I really enjoyed this read.

    9. The Hidden Duchess is a historical romance set in France during the revolution. It follows the story of Celeste, the Duchesse de Saint Tours, who is forced to flee Paris as she is accused of murdering her husband. Although Celeste is innocent of this crime she must go into hiding until her innocence can be proved. She seeks shelter with her cousins, on a farm in a small village in rural France. Used to the high society life in Paris, Celeste is shocked by the peasant lifestyle she is forced to a [...]

    10. Celeste has been accused of killing her husband and has flown to her cousins. They decided to let her stay but she must look and act like one of them(peasants). Marcel is a kind man and willing to help, along with his sister. This is just before the revolution, Bastille has been taken, fear is everywhere. The characters are thoughtful and kind. Of course, you get bad apples anywhere. The descriptions are enlightening and help you to picture the surroundings. This is the beginning of change for a [...]

    11. Wonderful story set just at the start of the French Revolution. Celeste takes shelter with her cousin in the French countryside and must try not to let on who she really is. This of course is a culture shock for her and she struggles with what she is expected to do. Marcel wants to keep her safe, but is that the only reason he worries about her? This story shares a little history along with romance and the author has juggled them both beautifully. The characterization in this book is fantastic a [...]

    12. Occasionally when I don't want to think too much I pick up a romance novel and get drawn into the story. This book was a nice tale about a duchess hiding in her cousin's village after being accused of murder. It is also on the brink of the French Revolution, so really, she has bigger problems than a murder charge. It was a bit of fun and if you are after and easy read in a historical context, this is the book for you.

    13. Fantastic adventureThe Hidden Duchess by Bree Verity is a fantastic adventure. It has twists and turns that kept me turning pages just to find out what happens next. I really enjoyed the banter between the two, both stubborn and hard headed. My free opinion. Thanks

    14. Not badly written, but not easy to read. Frustrating story that never really gets off the ground. Unfortunately I couldn't finish it.
