    1 thought on “Sire”

    1. MATTHEW WHY. SAM TOLD YOU IT WAS BETTER NOT TO GO, WHYYYYYY.I'm crying angry tears. This is so unfair. Poor Matthew. Poor Devak. Poor MY HEART. This book was SO. GOOD.

    2. I thought the first book rocks and the second one is even better. 😊 We meet with many new characters and the storyline is a bit different from book one. While the first book focused on how Matthew was captured by Incubi and how he fell for assh*le General Tarrick, we now have a new MC who I absolutely adore. 💙 And it picks up right from where the first one ended. After escaping from the imprisonment of Incubi with the help of vampire Lord Ascelina, Matthew had been roaming around searchin [...]

    3. 5 huge starsI thought the first book, Captive, was awesome, but the second was even better. We get a lot of action, so many fights, unexpected turns and less romance. But I loved it way more than the first one. I got to love Devak and Sam. I was so glued to the pages that I sneaked and read on my phone at the office. It's really addictive! When I couldn't read I kept thinking about it. The world building is amazing!Unfortunately I've stumbled upon some spoilers before finishing the book and I kin [...]

    4. This review is going to be short because I seriously need to start the next book now.Sire is probably even better than the previous book Captive (and yes you must read Captive first). This book has all the best elements of the previous book plus Devak (who’s brilliant) and Samantha (who’s cute and funny) plus Jet (who’s adorable). It’s brilliant, it never lets up and yes Matthew finds his sire and discovers the identity of his mother. The ending is awful, seriously awful and if the next boo [...]

    5. Why!!!!! Why!!!! That ending!!! o___OJust kill me now!!! Hasn't Matthew suffered enough?!!!! My poor Devak!!!!! (TT)Please Tarrick!!!! Be useful for once and help our boy!!!!!I need more!!!!!!4.5 Stars!!!Awesome book!!!! If I liked Captive, Sire has stole my heart!!Love all the action, the mystery and the new characters. The tense moments between our boys, the sweet moments with Sam, and the sexy times with Devak. But damn, I have suffered with Matthew too. And that ending, just broke my heart!! [...]

    6. Argh, terrible cliffhanger! And someone I grew to love in the story died! Poor Matthew, he still never catches a break. Lots of action in this story, less romance, but the story was so good anyway. Have to wait for the third book to be released early next year. This book was so way better than the first one, despite the way it ended. I hope Matthew will get his love story somehow in the next book.

    7. After starting book one this morning and finishing it, I could not wait to start book two, I had to order in because I couldn't spend the few minutes I needed to cook away from this book. I loved Devark, I don't even know what else to say. After that ending I was reading to jump into book three but I see book four is yet to be released, I am going to try my best to put off reading book three until there's a release date for it. It's not hard to do because right now my heart is broken. Thanks a l [...]

    8. This series is very original. Book 1 Wowed me, book #2 still held my interest & I will be moving forward in this series. I did love Captive more than Sire. However the author still found twist & managed to surprise me. Have loved seeing the development in characters. This book is still one of the more interesting books I've read. There were things I loved, things I didn't. But that happens with most books. Start this series. You won't be disappointed.

    9. Amazing. Unstoppable action with lots of heartache but little romance. There's a love triangle that spiced things up (when the action didn't, which was seldom anyway). I've been unable to put these books down all weekend and I'm moving right now to the next one. Once more though, this isnot a series for anyone, there's a lot of gore, violence and sleeping around with any genre -male or female- going on.

    10. I'm a picky reader. I can't help it. Because I spend my days writing/editing, I'm very difficult to please when it comes to reading. At the end of 2017, I DNF a lot of books that I don't track on GR for obvious reasons. I was in a reading slump and it sucked. But this series? Dayam, it's SO good. Thank you, Jex Lane, for creating a fabulous world and populating it with tantalizing characters. The writing is superb, the pace is perfect (not too fast, not too slow - never a dull moment), it's not p [...]

    11. 4.5 stars.Everything I expected, and then some more. What can I say, I love Matthew, in all his Mary-Sue glory, and I loved how he stood up for himself in this book. I still despise Tarrick, and can't wait for the next book and the adventures it will bring.

    12. 5 stars. HOLY SHIT.WHAT. NO. OMG. *sobs*Poor Devak. And Matthew. My f*cking heart is shattered.I just can't deal with anything right now. *sobs even harder*This series is one of the best I've read this year, hands down.

    13. 4 StarsFull Review:*I received an ecopy of this book from the author. This has in no way influenced my review. Quotes used in this review were from an ARC and may be different in the final book.*This book was kind of different from the first because, whereas the first book was all sex and violence and torture and not knowing who to trust, this one was kind of quirky and funny and focused more on Matthew's newly acquired ragtag band of misfits/strange little family. And though this book took an u [...]

    14. I think this is a really great series with absolute interesting characters but a terrible ending. And now I have to wait for the next part The little cunning fox was once again full of surprises. And I think the last word is not yet spoken about Tarrick.Matthew wasn’t sure why Tarrick had grabbed him, but a moment passed between them. A mourning, maybe, for what they were losing—or perhaps what might have been. It was so subtle that no outsider would have noticed it. Tarrick’s arm dropped [...]

    15. About 4.5 starsThis second book has a lighter feel but is still full of action and continues with the world building. It's easily one of my favorite new series this year.

    16. Please read the full review at : THREE BOOKS OVER THE RAINBOWMatthew is heartbroken, he can’t forget Tarrick, no matter how hard he tries. One year has passed since he ran away from his captor’s hands and alone with his “dog” a gargoyle, he tries to find find out who are/were his parents and who is/was his Sire. With the help of the Vampires, he gains more power over his vampire side. With Hunters, Incubi, Witches and some Vampires, who fears him, also on his tail, he needs to be careful [...]

    17. I'm really not a fan of reviewing separate books for a series because I've been burned a few times down the road as each new book was released from other mm book series. I didn't even write an official review for the Captive. I mean, I rated it but I kept my opinion to myself.d then I finished this bitch of a book. This EVIL bitch of a book. Let me tell you something, I started reading thr FIRST book yesterday morning. THATS RIGHT YESTERDAY!!! And less than 24 hrs later I'm finished with the sec [...]

    18. Update November 8, 2017 reread: I never want to see Matthew in pain and the ending of this book was just so horrible to read. I read this book three times and I still cry at the ending. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Will Matthew stop getting his heart ripped out of his chest? This was way better than the first book. It was action filled and we got to know more about Matthew's heritage and role in this war. There are still some raunchy sce [...]

    19. Once again a brilliant squee-al but I so hate the killer cliffhangers!!!Mathew's release & capture theme is wearing out a bit as it's becoming a bit repetitive otherwise one of the best fantasy series of 2016!!

    20. ААААА! Как круто!!! Вот это были скачки, изгрызла все ногти, изжевала три ведра попкорна)))) Клиф в конце ужасен, просто кошмар! Что же будет дальше

    21. I cannot believe what just have happened, It's too painful, I don't even know if I'm going to be able to read the next book. Thanks for breaking my heart Jex Lane.

    22. 4.5* rounded down because I rounded the last one up. (Too many science classes)While you could read this without reading book one don't think it would be nearly as enjoyable that way. It continues on some time after the end of book 1. Matthew is essentially on his own although he has a quasi pet. Very near the beginning of the book he meets Sam and they spend most of the rest of the book together. I found myself quietly screaming at Matthew to listen to Sam. Of course he didn't listen to me eith [...]

    23. WOW!!! This series is so engrossing. The intrigue, the battles, the creatures, the love, the damage. And doesn't Mathew have just one douche-bag of a father. I wonder what his mother is like?

    24. Wow! I just finished Captive and the second book in the series Sire by Jex Lane. They contain just about everything I normally stay away from in a book but for some reason, it works and I had to give them 5 Stars. The sad thing is that I'm going to stop here. The third book is out and I picked it up but then noticed the author mentioned that there are going to be six to nine books in the series taking it well into the next decade before we get an ending.I'm going to have to wait until there are a [...]

    25. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay, not that I got that out of my system, this was a fantastic read and I am hooked! I am totally left now waiting for the next volume in the series, which cannot come fast enough. This story is full of potential spoilers, so this review won't have a lot of detail. If you have any questions, I am more than happy to answer them. Please keep in mind that unlike the last book, Tarrick is not in this volume as often he was in the last. I am not saying he is still not [...]

    26. So book 2 of Jex Lane’s Beautiful Monster’s series is just as amazing, powerful, and emotional as the first book. The story Jex is weaving is intricate. As always we are following Matthew. You know at this point what is sort of going on with him. We know the black and white of what he is just not how deep it goes. (I won’t spoil anything you’ll have to go read book 1 and 2) We see a lot of familiar faces from book 1 in this one and meet some fabulously new ones. It’s not giving anythin [...]
