    1. This book contains papers from a wonderful conference I attended on Writing and the Holocaust many years ago, while I was still teaching high school. The highlights of the conference, for me, were meeting and speaking with Terence Des Pres and Alvin Rosenfeld, two scholars whose work I had admired, and I was delighted to discover both were magnificent people as well.
