    1 thought on “Blood Secrets”

    1. A teenage boy is found horribly beaten and left scarred for life. The boy's father hires a private investigator to try and find out why this happened and who is responsible. I had not read any of this author's books before and only realised at the end that this was one of a series but it still works well as a stand alone. In saying this I did find it a bit slow at times but the last 25%made up for this. This is a thriller that has many twists and turns which eventually all come together to make [...]

    2. Tyrone Swift is back again. In the second book in the series, a man asks him to find out who -and why- severely hurt his son 15 years before. The son was left for dead and the family collapsed. Now, they are all poster cases for dysfunctional people and not one of them is telling the truth.Swift has many personal problems. He's still got relationship issues, or maybe I should say non-relationship, as his girlfriend left him some time before to marry another man.He still lives in the same house, [...]

    3. This is the first book by Gretta Mulrooney which I have read. I will certainly read more in future. This book is a crime thriller which has some clever twists and turns. It follows the cold case investigation of an attempted murder by a private detective, Tyrone Swift. He is an ex police detective who is bought in to find the perpetrator. The story becomes a complex journey into the past and present of what is clearly a somewhat dysfunctional family.I liked the pace and the way the characters wer [...]

    4. This was my first book by this author but I will read more by her. This is the 2nd book about Tyrone Swift and I did not read this 1st but this book was still a good read. Private detective Tyrone Swift has been hired by the father of the teenage boy who was beaten and left damaged for the rest of his life. His father wants to know why this happened to his son. As Swift investigates he finds that this family is full of lies and a lot of secrets. Swift has his own family problems to deal with and [...]

    5. I received a free copy of the book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. And I'm so very glad I had this opportunity to read a very good detective book. It is (yet again) not the first book of a series. And yet (yet again) I feel no detachment from the characters or the story - if there was a link to an earlier book, the reference is buried so deep in the book that it doesn't matter. In this book Ty Swift, a casual rower and an ex-Met turned PI, investigates the case of Teddy Bartlett [...]

    6. Second in the series of her Tyrone Swift (detective in London) novels, but I hadn't read the first and I could follow the story (some references made to something that happened in his past, but could be something from the first book, or just something before the series began, you can't tell and that's fine). Swift is a former police detective (England and Interpol) turned PI. The story was about a father who hired Swift to find the person(s) who beat his son (almost to death) many years before. [...]

    7. This is the only Gretta Mulrooney which I have read, it is a crime thriller with some good interesting twists and turns and some great character development which helps make the book enjoyable. Private detective, Tyrone Swift is an ex police detective who is bought in to find the perpetrator of a crime against a boy left with life changing damages. A story of a dysfunctional family, which is at times is fast paced and intriguing- a good story with a twist that was not so much a shock but interes [...]

    8. I kept track - next to nothing happened for the first eighty percent of this book. Then, it became gripping and full of suspense. That's a long time to endure a book to get to a place where it becomes interesting. No one but the main character, Tyrone Smith, a private eye, had any redeeming qualities. There was also a side story of Mr. Smith's cousin and her soon-to-be-bride which was completely superfluous. As I mentioned, there was an interesting ending to BLOOD SECRETS but just not enough sub [...]

    9. Tyrone Swift, ex-policeman, and now private investigator is employed to found out who had attacked and left for dead a young man fifteen years ago. Along the way he discovers various secrets, but because of past actions there is an undesirable impact on his life. An interesting enough story but very few likeable characters to connect with or care about.A NetGalley book.

    10. A Good ReadThis was my first book from this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters were believable and flowed beautifully (I do hate it when you have to flick back to remind yourself who's who in the supporting cast!). The plot was well thought through and moved at a good pace. If I had the physical book, its one I'd definitely pass on to a friend.

    11. I received a copy in exchange for an honest review. This is the second book in the Tyrone Swift series. I read this as a stand alone book and is certainly enjoyable as a stand alone. This book took us along with Ty while is investigates what happened to Teddy all those years ago. While also dealing with his personal problems. Very enjoyable book!

    12. Fairly plodding, but well constructed, this crime thriller delivers well on the twists and turns front, and Tyrone Swift is a credible sleuth. Just a couple of ends I'd like to have seen tied up, eg. questions about at least 3 babies . however, maybe this is covered in the next instalment in the series.

    13. well done. I had not read the first Tyrone Smith but that wasn't a problem because Mulrooney has written a thriller that pulls you in and along. This is a quick read and worth your time. THanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

    14. I really enjoyed this book, a thriller with several crimes. With the family in this book though you would be far better off having enemies. With believable characters and with the possibility of further adventures for the PI I seriously recommend this book.

    15. Definitely a new fan! Told in that wonderful understated British voice, this story held my interest all the way through and plucked at my emotions. By turns I was fascinated, appalled, charmed, and angry by the events as they unfolded. Tyrone Swift is now on my list of favorite detectives.

    16. This is the second book in the series but is a stand alone. I loved the character of Ty, my kind of lead character. A good plot and a good pace. It just pulled you in from the start. I will read more by this author. Thank you Net Galley for my copy.

    17. So-soToo approving of a perverted life style for my taste. This book consisted of European immorality to an alarming extent. Will mot read another book bybthis author.

    18. Good read, very enjoyable A good read with some unexpected twists and turns to keep you guessing. Bromwich delivered what it promises - a gripping read with suspense.

    19. I like Gretta's writing styleI became completely engrossed in this book. It was easy to read as the story followed along and didn't jump around.

    20. Hard going at timesI struggled through this book, the story never seemed to kick on and there were large parts where I became bored and had to force myself to read through

    21. I could not find anything interesting about this book. It was extremely boring and the characters uninspired.

    22. Almost gothicAlthough this book was almost Gothic to me . I did enjoy it and will seek out further books this author .

    23. Very good read, I did enjoy this book; like many books the buildup is long and they cut the end short where one more chapter would be perfect.

    24. A brilliant book full of twists and brilliant characters couldn't put it down this is the first book I've read of hers and ordered the next one can't wait

    25. An absentee father grows a conscience and asks Tyrone Swift, former Metropolitan and Interpol police officer turned private investigator, to find out why, 15 years after the fact, his son was beaten to a pulp and left for dead. Swift soon realizes everyone in this dysfunctional family is hiding something, but he perseveres in bringing closure to the father, because that’s what he agreed to do.This story involves secrets, abandonment, sexual identity issues, dysfunction, and brutality. Swift ha [...]
