    1. Rating clarification: 4.5 stars Wow. This book had a lot going on. Luke Creed believes Clay Blackthorne is up to no good, because no Blackthorne can ever be up to anything good in a Creed's eye, and he's set out to prove it at all costs. Owen Blackthorne gets thrown in to the mix when Luke's older sister Bayleigh, aka Bay, asks him to help her find her brother. The only catch, he has to take her with him. Little does Bayleigh know that they are playing with the big dogs on this one. Owen and Bay [...]

    2. Another great read by Joan Johnston and great addition to the series about the fued between the Blackthorne and Creed families in modern day Texas. Owen Blackthorne is a Texas Ranger and is on a mission to find out who killed his best friend and stole the VX mines. He knows his brother Clay is involved but only can hope that Clay is involved on the right side of the law. Bayleigh Creed is a vet but she's determined to go with Owen into the cruel West Texas forest to find her brother that is also [...]

    3. A Wonderful, Intriguing, suspenseful, Powerful book I can't say enough good things about this book. Each book in this series only gets more enjoyable to read and makes the reader hunger for the next in the series.

    4. Love love love this series!!Love love love this series!!OMG this series just keeps getting better. Many many revelations are revealed in this exceptional book. Owen & Bay are up against many gut wrenching obstacles and dangerous elements. This series pulled at my heart 6 years ago and is a definitely great series to not be missed. 5 stars and deserves more.

    5. Even though I gave the first book in this series 2 stars, I decided to keep going. I'm not sure I can pinpoint why, except that I sometimes have this feeling when I'm reading a book I don't like that the author needs another chanceke I just grabbed the wrong book first, and if I had read them in a different order, I would have reviewed it as "that one book every author writes sooner or later, no matter how good they are"I'm glad I did. I've now read books 2 and 3 back to back (review of book 3 c [...]

    6. I've read the first 3 chapters of this book was very interesting about the story in this book. Comparing with 2 other books I'm reading: I,Robot, and The MoonStone, this book was written in simple words and easy to read.It is too short to talk about the review of this book#11When I was reading this book today, I was surprised because the setting of this book is so familiar with what I knew about Texas. I thought it was about the old day of Texas; however, the settings was about the modern life o [...]

    7. Loved this one! This continues the Blackthorne/Creed story. Bayliegh Creed needs Owen Blackthorne's help finding her missing brother, Luke. It turns out Luke is mixed up in some stolen nerve gas mines in Big Ben. Owen, a Texas Ranger, is already involved in the case because his best friend, Hank, was murdered while involved with the case. Also, his brother Clay, is the Attorney General, is somehow wrapped up in it. Sooo, Owen is reluctant to take Bayleigh with him, but does it anywayThey are att [...]

    8. The Texan topped The Cowboy. It had so much action adventure, feuding, passion, hot sexy cowboys and of course Bitter Creek drama! I’ve got to say Owen might be my favorite Blackthorne son. He was just as much of a cowboy as his brothers but had a sweet, funny side to him that I fell for. I’m so hooked on this series.

    10. Just as in the first one we immediately jump into problems. The author can’t even ease us into the new characters before the old feud between the Blackthornes and Creeds comes up. Luke thinks Clay stole the VX nerve gas mines, whatever that is. And they’re duking it out in the bar. Bayleigh comes, and says “why don’t you pick on someone your own size” which was ridiculous because her brother started it and Luke refused to fight. He said one provoking sentence and then Luke charged him. [...]

    11. Another tale of the Blackthorne and Creed family. Owen Blackthorne is a Texas Ranger and Bayleigh Creed at veterinarian. Their families have been feuding for years- with occasionally romancing and marriages interspersed. Bay's father was murdered by someone hired by Owen's mother, though it isn't clear whether the target was Bay's father or mother. Lots of intrigue going on here and that isn't even the main part of the story. Bay's brother,Luke, is convinced that Owen's twin, Cole, Texas State A [...]

    12. Managed to pluck this book out of a box that a friend gave me and did not realize until the end that I was reading the second book in a series!! Now I need to find the others!!! I'm in a light reading, let me relax mode and this fit in well. Good plane ride reading.

    13. This series is fantastic !!!! I truly fell in love with this book. The characters and storyline made this book hard to put down. Can't wait to read the other two. A great book for all the romance book lovers out there. Gets a vote for five star read from me.

    14. Great book and story line a lot of different characters coming together would highly recommend👍

    15. Overall Rating: 4.85Action: 4.0 / Emotion: 5.0 / Romance: 5.0 / Sensuous: 2.5 / Suspense: 3.0 // Laughter: 1 // Tears: 3 / Teary: 2The Texan: 4.85:Joan Johnston again displayed her gift at storytelling by delivering an exciting, entertaining, enjoyable, engrossing re-read.Hero: 4.50:Owen Blackthorne: a capable, hunky Texas Ranger, who won hearts with his strength of character, his compassion, and his ability to overcome the almost debilitating blows he suffered during childhood.Heroine: 3.50:Bay [...]

    17. This book had so much going on that it bordered on ridiculous. Rogue government agents, deadly nerve gas a la Nicholas Cage in The Rock, not one but two secret love childrend even with all that it wasn't very interesting.

    18. The Texan is the third book I've read by Joan Johnston and I am already looking forward to more books. With this series she brought a modern, rugged and vast Texas to life. The setting, the characters, the story came together wonderfully. Joan Johnston has a knack for writing about beautiful, blended families. I not only appreciate the main couple but also their families as well. I loved The Cowboy, the first book in the Bitter Creek series. It was a sweet story about second chances. This story [...]

    19. I found this book at Walmart. Picked it up off the shelf and put it back several times before I decided to buy it. I am glad I did buy it. Recently I've been finding a bunch of cowboy romance type books which I have enjoyed. This one had an actiony murder mystery twist to it. The first several chapters were basically a snoozefest. It did get better though! I loved loved loved reading about Owen and Bay while they were out in the desert searching for her brother and Hank's murderer. I absolutely [...]

    20. HmmmIt was an okay read overall, but there were a few things I didn't like. It was a little odd having so many POVs (from different characters). It didn't help that I started to actively dislike a few of the characters that I'm probably supposed to sympathise with. Even the heroine was incredibly annoying for most of the book. One thing I don't understand is why there's no mention about the sacrifice that the Creed family must've made to be able to send Bayleigh to vet school. I don't know what [...]

    21. It was a perfect story to hear in the car. Not to exciting, not to dull. It didn´t matter that I sometimes heard just 10 minutes other times 60. The story is very easy to follow. I did think Bayleigh Creed was a bit dumb in the beginning though. I´m sure the author wanted her to be stubborn and family oriented but I didn´t see that. Thank God she changed a bit during the story.Owen Blackthorne was just one of those heroes you could die for. Strong, funny and very handy in desert country! Not [...]

    22. It's a romance novel with a Louis l'Amour type plot. DNF. Not for me today. For a really good western novel written by a woman, I suggest The Cowboy and The Cossack by Clair Huffaker.

    23. Reading The Texan by Joan Johnston is the book equivalent of taking a wild roller coaster ride at an amusement park. Owen and Bay have a story that will keep you turning pages through twists and turns, love and hate, forgiving and feuding. Joan Johnston has delivered a well written, action packed story. I loved the characters, action and suspense. I can't wait to read more from this talented author. The Texan is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger. I purchased a copy of this book at a library bo [...]

    24. just finished this book this afternoon and i liked this modern romance of two from feuding families, the Blackthorns and the Creeds, who go through the typical story plotunwanted attraction, they discovery of a secret that forces them apart, only to be thrown together as they make life and death choices--family, duty, and love--in the ruthless Texas wilderness.i don't have any problem recommending this novel to lovers of cowboy romances.

    26. This story had a good plot and plenty of fast paced exciting action but the characters behavior was rather juvenile and kind of dramatic. They would switch from hate to love and back in minutes even the side romances. Bayleigh's brother picks a fight with Owen's brother keeping the feud between families going strong.

    27. I enjoyed this one alot. When Owen and Bailey are brought together to find her brother they don't like each other very much. Family ties are strong for both of them and each family hates the other. While trying to find her brother they start to overcome their differences and find some common ground, and love.
