    1. To baby or not to baby. That is the question! At least it’s a question I’ve been asking myself a lot lately. With my thirties about to run out, I feel like it’s now or never for my husband and I, and I’ve been on the fence for far too long. If only there was a super fun book I could read that could help me decide! Enter PopDaddy, Jeffrey Roach’s debut novel. This true story is about the author, his hunky husband Ken, and their decision to adopt a child together. Fifteen years ago when [...]

    2. As a parent who adopted a child from Guatemala 11 years ago in a very similar method as the author of this book, reading it stirred up a ton of memories. Jeffrey hilariously captures all the drama, questions, and insecurities that come with making such a momentous and very personal decision. His bravery in sharing the good, the bad and the ugly that goes along with it is commendable. It is refreshing to see such humanity and not a whitewashed spin on how some families are made.My husband got con [...]

    3. There is no review that can do this book justice. It's hilariously entertaining and so endearing because it's based on a real family. I truly enjoyed the writing from this author, technically sound and delightfully free of the editing errors typically found in self pubbed books. The narrative reminded me so much of the late Erma Bombeck and the not so late Nick Wilgus that I was laughing my ass off or smiling throughout most of the book.Aside from the humor what I really enjoyed was reading abou [...]

    4. This is a win review. from I can see some people really loved this book and some kind of hated it. I think it has a lot with your perspective on life. Myself I found the book to be charming and funny. Many gay people adopt children from other countries. The journey these men went on was very good.

    5. A Joyfully Jay review. 5 starsThis is a story that will warm your heart while keeping you thoroughly entertained. Jeff narrates this story so well that it almost feels as if you are reading a novel written in the first person – except that everything he’s telling you really happened. Within minutes of starting this book, I wanted to sit down and have coffee with these two guys because they were just the types of people who you know you would enjoy meeting.I also have to say that this book re [...]

    6. Best book ever! I seriously don't have the words to describe this work of art. One moment I'm laughing historically, the next I'm mad and the next I'm sad at the injustice that the LGBT community suffers through the ignorance and intolerance of others! This is not a romance, but a memoir of Jeffery and his husband Ken, and the journey they went through to adopt their son Jackson from an orphanage in Guatemala. This is about the people including a supportive family that gave these two men the hel [...]

    7. Pop Daddy provides an emotional depiction of the civil rights issues facing American gay and lesbian families. Told almost 15 years after the events, the book relates the true life tale of a gay couple who are very much in love and hoping to expand their family. Readers are given a raw look at the deep emotions, vulnerability and struggles that Ken and Jeffrey experienced during their quest to adopt their son, Jackson. The narrative is written in Jeffery's voice and moves at light speed. This bo [...]

    8. This a wonderful story about two gay men in their thirties embarking on the journey to adopt a baby. It is cleverly written and very funny, but the most amazing thing about the book is the insight that it gives you into lives of a gay couple who are just trying to be happy, be normal, be a family, basically to just BE. This book is a must read for anyone who wants to laugh, cry and have a better understanding of their gay love ones.

    9. As a beta reader and a real live supporting character in the book, I'm telling you this is worth the read! The story goes beyond the humor and the shenanigans - it's the real story about two people building a family when the whole world seemed to be against gay families. The struggles, the fears, the joys and the tearslove conquers all! You will love this book! Buy several copies right now!

    10. Strongly recommended. Beautifully written. While I can identify with being in a long-term, gay relationship, my husband and I have no desire for children. Still I found Roach’s memoir highly engaging. It’s charming, funny and poignant simultaneously.

    11. I loved listening to the retelling of real-life events Jeffrey, and his husband Ken, go through while adopting their son, Jackson. The best part is that this is a funny, sweet, well written, and a happy story! It gave me hope (and giggles) :DKevin R. Free was perfectly chosen as the narrator and he adds so much to the overall experience.

    12. I don't think I have every laughed and cried so much while reading a book. This is a wonderful story of the challenges faced by a gay couple adopting a child. Jeffrey really opens his heart and shares the heart wrenching reality that he and many gay and lesbian couples face on a regular basis while at the same time demonstrating clearly just how wrong those prejudices are. This is a great read, warm, humorous and delightful. I highly recommend this book.

    13. A fun read although at times it was too self-indulgent and self congratulatory. For this excess however, it was balanced by self-deprecation and love.

    14. What a great real story! Jeffrey had me crying tears of laughter early on. Later in the book, he had me crying tears of tender happiness. Families don't get better. Not just the boy and the boy and the baby, but also the aunts, grandmothers, cousins, etc. All that and this is an important piece of history about two of the early gay couples who adopted children in America.

    15. Heart warming and totally fun and hilarious read!!Love love loved the story! And the writing is so so funny! I laughed out loud every few pages. Jeffrey Roach has an awesome sense of humour and a really fabulous writing style. I want more!!!
