    1. Begun by Time by Morgan O'Neill is a 2015 Entangled Publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book is the prequel to “The Thornless Rose”, which was originally released in 2014. I loved that book so much, I was thrilled to discover we were invited to learn the back story which will be Catherine and Jonnie, and to some extent, Arthur's story. In 1945, as the war is coming to an end, Catherine falls in love with Jonath [...]

    2. I've been eagerly anticipating the next book in this series, so imagine my delight to find there's a prequel while I wait! And that the prequel reveals some of the mystery as to how Catherine was able to move on from the tragedy of losing Jonnie. Arthur was the perfect hero: never jealous of Jonnie's place in Catherine's heart, a perfect gentleman, dashingly handsome. He certainly didn't disappoint, and I didn't know how I was going to feel about the man who "replaced" Jonnie. I certainly didn't [...]

    3. Begun by Time is the prequel the story of Catherine and Jonathan touched upon in the first book in the series, The Thornless Rose (love, love, love this story!!). Catherine and Jonathan meet due to a horrific outcome of the bombing of London. When they meet, even through the horror, love blossoms. But, there are other factors at work in our young lovers' lives. When Jonathan disappears, Catherine spends months, years even, trying to understand what has happened to him. The enigmatic Arthur Howar [...]

    4. This is the start of a trilogy, so if you start take care to have all three books, otherwise you'll have to live with cliffhangers! And I hate them! :-)In this book we're given a kind of prequel to the book where the real time travel will happen. Here we're give just a glimps here and there! This is a story, happening in 1945, where a young Catherine falls in love with Jonathan, who suddenly disappers a week before their wedding! Catherine is distrought! Where did Jonnie disappered? What's happen [...]

    5. If you read The Thornless Rose and loved it as I did, then you’ll want to read the prequel, Begun By Time. This is the amazing story of how it all began. The story of how Catherine Hastings meets the dashing Major Jonathon Brandon, a flight surgeon with the RAF, and the unexplainable circumstances in which she loses him. An event which leaves her and his family shocked and grief-stricken. Set toward the end of WW11, this personal tragedy is echoed in the greater tragedies of the war, portrayed [...]

    6. My review contains spoilers and they're mostly my thoughts as I went with the book for more, visit Punya ReviewsMorgan O’Neill’s latest offering, Begun by Time, was a lovely prequel to The Thornless Rose (Elizabethan Time Travel #1). TBH I’m not a big time travel theme enthusiast (I have my reasons) yet this series got me hooked since I read the blurb of book 1. I’ve enjoyed it so thoroughly that I’ve been eagerly waiting for the next installmentThe Thornless Rose begins at 1945 when D [...]

    7. BEGUN BY TIME was not at all what I thought it would be, and it is splendid! London, March 1945. Catherine Hastings is a volunteer in the Women’s Voluntary Services, she and her friends are doing their job when the Luftwaffe drops a bomb, and their leader, Rose Gordon, is killed, among others. At Rose’s funeral, Catherine meets Rose’s son, Jonathan, whom she knew about. Jonathan is a surgeon in the RAF, recuperating at the moment from an injury. They start talking, then dating, and soon re [...]

    8. Find this and other reviews at: flashlightcommentary.Yeah no. Morgan O'Neill's Begun by Time didn't work for me. I've a penchant for WWII lit and jumped into the novel without thinking twice, but I made it only a few chapters before realizing I'd picked up something I wasn't going to enjoy. My first issue was the characterizations or more accurately, the lack there of. Cookie cutter character drive me up the wall and there was simply no depth to Catherine, Jonathan or Arthur. They appeared to be [...]

    9. Different and original! How wonderful to see Catherine as a young woman and to share her version of the story. A worthy prequel to the excellent novel The Thornless Rose. I received an advance copy in return for an honest review. Thank you.

    10. This is the prequel story to "The Thornless Rose" about Catherine and Jonathan. Great back story to how they got together and events leading up to and after that event.

    11. In 1945, a man disappeared into thin airIn the final days of World War II, Catherine Hastings meets the man she wants to marry. Flight surgeon Jonathan Brandon isn't just handsome—he's everything Catherine could hope for in her betrothed. But her dream of a happily ever after is shattered when Jonnie disappears shortly before their weddingleaving Catherine bereft, broken-hearted, and with a lifetime of unanswered questions.Arthur Howard is smitten with the lovely Catherine the moment he sees h [...]

    12. From war-torn England, suffering under the onslaught of German bombers, to Elizabethan England, only a writer as talented as Morgan O’Neill (Deborah O’Neill Cordess/Cary Morgan Frates) could maintain a series as engrossing as their current Elizabethan time travel series. Begun by Time, the prequel to The Thornless Rose, introduces us to Catherine Hastings, as a courageous young woman dealing with the uncertainties of life in England during World War II. A bomb strike as she and her co-worker [...]

    13. Catherine Hastings thinks she’s found her one true love duringWorld War II and its aftermath, but time has other plans for her and Commander Jonathan Brandon, leading to both terrible heartbreak, and questions that no one can answer. Enter the dashing and determined Arthur Howard, who helps her find answers, as well as happiness. I loved this prequel to The Thornless Rose very much. The heroine is strong, even during the darkest days she faces, and Arthur Howard reminded me so much of Doughlas [...]

    14. I do not read time travel romances in general. However, having said that, this book was a good and a light read. Written very well with adequate amount of historical research, this book works because for one the author has managed to bring alive 1945 England vividly. The characters are also as well-etched as can be in romances. In terms of romance, whether one believes in time travel or not, what happens to Major Jonathan Brandon is interesting as a mystery. Both the love stories are written bel [...]

    15. Mesmerizing story about the last months of WWII in London. A young woman falls madly in love with an RAF physician and he with her. A love of a lifetime. But, it's not to bead it in one day and it totally grabbed my heart. Full review to follow!

    16. A wonderful prequel draws you right in .looking forward to reading the authors next book.if your a fan of English sagas&romance beautifully written this is the perfect book for you.

    17. I received a complimentary copy of this book as a part of a book tour for a fair and honest review from the publisher via NetGalley and rated it 4.5 out of 5 stars.A fascinating mix of time travel fantasy and historical romance, Begun by Time by Morgan O’Neill is the first book in the Elizabethan Time Travel Series. Colorful characters, an interesting look at life in England during the end of World War ii and the unsolved mystery of a man’s “disappearance” kept me turning the pages to di [...]

    18. When I first read the blurb on this book, it sounded intriguing, but I did not realize it was a prequel to another book until I read a couple of reviews. Then as I read the story it made more sense to me or I could get on board with it more. This was my first story to read in the time travel genre and I have only watched maybe two movies dealing with the same theme. So I am a newbie at this genre. But the story of Catherine and Jonnie is a very sweet story of courtship, friendship and love. I lo [...]

    19. Loved this book, it took me exactly less than 2 days to read it-that's a record for me. Though this is a prequel to The Thornless Rose, both titles are stand alone. If you want to find out what really happened to Major Jonathan Brandon, then you'll have to read the The Thornless Rose and I'd strongly recommend that you do. Everyone would enjoy Begun by Time, the author will take you back in time in post WWII England and how the Londoners coped with rations, the slow booming economy and their nev [...]

    20. Welcome, friends! We hope you enjoy reading our Elizabethan time travel series. We wrote The Thornless Rose first, followed by Begun by Time, the prequel to the series. Begun by Time was crafted so that it can be read before The Thornless Rose or afterward. Either way, readers can experience the unfolding tale, which continues in the sequel, a third novel titled Ever Crave the Rose. ECTR brings everything full circle, in a love story for all time. Thank you so much for your support and well wish [...]

    21. You don’t really read Morgan O’Neill books-you live them. When you put the book down (if you can), the characters remain in your mind, alive and vibrant. Even when I’m not reading the book, I’m thinking about it—my personal high standard for any novel.Set in England at the end of World War II, Begun by Time begins with the story of Catherine Hastings and Major Jonathon Brandon falling in love. Through romance, tragedy, and triumph, this story lays the groundwork for its sequel, The Tho [...]

    22. In this prequel to "The Thornless Rose" set in England during WWII, we meet Catherine, who has found the man of her dreams in Jonathon. But before the couple can live happily-ever-after, Jonathon disappears without a trace. Heartbroken Catherine finds both help solving the mystery and love again in Arthur but leaves us wondering how this will all connect in the next book! The intertwined love stories, the portrayal of WWII England and the tantalizing hints of what's to come make this a must read [...]

    23. I didn't realize this was a prequel to an existing series and it was SO good!!!! I ended up buying Ever Crave the Rose and The Thornless Rose because I *must* know what happens. This book was beautifully written and obviously well researched. You can't tell it has two authors - I only heard one voice throughout - the storytelling is seamless. If you love historical fiction, sci-fi (time travel) and romance, this is the book for you. But you'll definitely be hooked, a/k/a just buy all three. < [...]

    24. Great storyDon't miss this one I loved it and will go on to read the rest of the series. I have to know what happens!

    25. A very effective Gabaldon-esque Prequel. Although obviously influenced by Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series, these authors added the extra dimension to a time travel tale by examining the reaction and thought process of the loved ones the time traveler left behind. All in all a nice twist to a classic time travel story. I look forward to reading the next two books in the series.

    26. I received a copy of this book from Netgalley/Entangled Publishing for an honest review. "Begun By Time" by Morgan O'Neill is an Elizabethan time travel novel. The story was an okay read for me. I don't normally read time travel books. It was well written just the story line didn't interest me. Since this book is the prequel to The Thornless Rose may explain still feeling confused at the end of the book.
