    2. Even slower than volume 6. Several times I had to flip back and forth between pages because in the half second it took to turn I'd completely forgotten where the story was going. Mainly since the story didn't go anywhere. AS and the BPRD universe is unchanged from the first page to the last; no resolution, no progress, and precious few memorable pages.

    3. I'm not sure exactly why, but this last arc of Abe Sapien felt a little uneven. My appreciation and admiration for the work that Mignola & Company offer up week after week in the pages of the Hellboy universe of titles is almost unparalleled. They offer up consistently high quality story, gorgeous art and beloved characters that never (and I truly mean NEVER) cease to entertain me. Although I suppose with all the years of unwavering quality, it was bound to hit a snag or a dry spell. Perhaps [...]

    4. Finally some answers and some direction!World: The art is great, it matches the tone of the book and story that is being told here. The world building is absolutely wonderful, it's insanely good. Why? This book finally gave us some world building answers and tied into so much of the past that it was an intense read. If you are a Mignolaverse reader then this arc was a big reveal, it's great.Story: The story has been lulling for a while, just Abe wandering and trying to find answers and meeting p [...]

    5. I really really love Hellboy and Abe and all of it. But the more I get into the graphic novels the more I lose interest. The movies were my introduction and the story premise won me over, but the novels are pure horror. And this one actually gave me nightmares. Not in a fun way. This one also jumped around alot and I was confused about what was going on. There was a lot brooding and prophesies some of which were interesting but it mostly felt repetitive. If this wasn’t so gory and more about o [...]

    6. So, almost caught up with the full Hellboy canon to date. I am trying to think of how this solo hero adventure is different than Hellboy. I mean, both of these characters are somewhat either messianic or end of time characters. There is the matter of how they approach things. If HB is the hands then is Abe the mind with Liz being the heart? I dunno but these are fun to read.

    7. Surprisingly so-so. The individual stories are fine, but as a collection, it feels like one big pile of set-up for whatever final destiny Abe is approaching (like BPRD Hell on Earth, this series is wrapping up soon). Which made it very unsatisfying.

    8. Volume seven lacks the problems of the previous volume and is much more enjoyable. The story actually moves forward at a brilliant pace, brings together the wider Mignolaverse and fills in some of the questions that I had. The art is gorgeous and is well suited to these stories, Sebastian and Max Fiumara are impressively talented.

    9. This was decent enough, although it kind of falls into the category of "mysterious prophecy", with lots of stuff about how Abe is going to have a significant role in the post-apocalyptic world and bridge the eras of man and whatnot. That kind of thing can get tiresome, and it takes up most of this volume. Also, we finally find out what the deal is with the weird magician who has been wandering around in the background of the series for so long, so maybe he'll finally actually interact with Abe, [...]

    10. I enjoyed this much more than the recent BPRD. It has more story line and I sense the story is leading to a final reckoning. I feel so bad for Abe. He's always mistaken for a monster as he tries to help others and discover who he is. Finally, any cameos from Hellboy I appreciate.

    11. I just realized how connected this series has been to the entire Mignolaverse and, holy shit, is my mind blown. This volume had some interesting developments for Abe, and reminded me why, originally, he was my favorite character in the Mignolaverse.

    12. Yes, something is finally happening in Abe Sapien! This collection was awesome and a lot of things are revealed! Can you tell I'm excited?

    13. Solid story, great art, wish we could have gotten to know some of the characters better. Questions are finally being answered.
