    1. In her debut paranormal romance, Rebecca N. Caudill accomplishes something quite exciting: she upends some of the established tropes of the well-loved vampire novel and goes on to create a new hybrid genre! It was completely unexpected yet delightful. Without getting into spoilers, when I read the section where the main protagonist (Olivia) goes through an unusual experience, my reader senses heightened and I said to myself, "Whoa, hold on. This isn't the vampire story that I thought was going t [...]

    2. Okay so on the one hand the 1st 50% of this story was very interesting. Intriguing. Scary even. Though I didn't really care for how the entirety of the book, the MC's stayed in their heads more often than conversing with one another. This is not usually my thing. I need just as much dialogue as inner monologue. A good balance of the two. I don't want to be told everything at every turn. And I don't fancy being stuck in one or both persons' heads for too long. But because their thoughts weren't r [...]

    3. There are two indicators that this was a great book - 1. I stayed up until 1 a.m. finishing it. 2. I moaned "noooooooo" when it ended. While it's hot and steamy, this book also drew me in with the characters. I immediately related to Olivia, who escaped from her "cushy" life after her parents' tragic death to write a novel. I love her tenacity, her strength and her self-awareness. This made her relationship with William a little tough for me to swallow - I have to admit that I wish she had put up [...]

    5. 5th in the Hidden Gem AwardsBlog:ScookieReviewsOlivia moves to Ireland, feeling a down on her luck and looking to kick start her life back up, starting with a tour of William Macauley's castle. When William rejects her offer, he wasn't expecting such a feisty reply, but Olivia was even more surprised when she remembers just exactly who William is.I knew a little of what was to come when I checked it was supernatural, but the twist was still a good one. The writing was quite clever, weaving in a [...]

    6. Very good start of a story that I would like to finish reading in the next book "Keeper Of My Soul". This is a story of Olivia a woman who has everything except she knows there is something missing in her life, but doesn't know what it is, and a vampire name William who is missing the love of his life that he lost long ago. Strange and mysterious things start to happen when Olivia goes to Ireland. Olivia wants to visit an old castle that has been rebuilt by William, but William declines to let O [...]

    7. Paranormal romance is not my usual genre. I'm usually quickly bored, irritated with the weakly written women, or pulled out of the moment with over the top language or situations. Rebecca's book has finally convinced me that maybe I just haven't found the right author. Until now, of course.Olivia is a blast to read- sharp, sexy, occasionally acerbic, and damaged enough to be really interesting. William's back story gives him a humanity and nuance that brings real depth to the romance. The settin [...]

    8. I have to admit: I don't read many romance novels, paranormal or otherwise. Nothing against it -- it's just not my genre of choice. I was surprised, though, at how much I enjoyed A Time Apart. I loved the setting. Who wouldn't want to be transported to a beautifully restored castle in Ireland? Reading it was like reading a great travelogue, with a centuries-long love story and a feisty heroine mixed in. The author clearly has fun with the genre, making a few sly nods to other famous vampire tale [...]

    9. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoy the premise behind this book. Romance separated not only by circumstance, but by time itself. Without giving away any spoilers, the reason behind their separation is both unique and intriguing. Caudill's writing style is enjoyable and easy to read, but I felt like the ending was a little anticlimactic. I think that there is some great action and suspense coming up in future books judging by some hints that she h [...]

    10. This was a good start to the story it feels almost like this is a serial and this was Episode 1. I look forward to where the author takes the series in the future. So our main characters in this book are Olivia and William. Olivia tries to be a tortured heroine, but she is wealthy and had a good relationship with her mother, so I don't think her childhood was tragic enough to qualify her as a tortured heroine. Sadly, at the beginning of the story, she has lost both of her parents in a horrible ac [...]

    11. I received this book as part of the first reads to give my honest opinion on. For being a debut novel I found this one to be very entertaining and at time quite the page turner. I am a fan of paranormal books and when you add romance and modern whittiness to it, well call me hooked.I really enjoyed the main character Olivia and her I'm going for it no matter what attitude. William our other main character and the "bad" "good" guy of the book is also very enchanting. You find yourself wanting to [...]

    12. With an introduction and cover like that, who wouldn’t want to pick up and dive into this book? No one, that’s who.I have the pleasure of knowing this author, and the benefit of a peek behind the curtain. Her writing is thoughtful and intentional and the story she has created is original, intense, and captivating. I’m a sucker for romances – especially of the paranormal variety – and this one did not disappoint. Rather, I was thrilled with her new ideas and fresh take on the vampires w [...]

    13. The first novel in the Macauley paranormal romance series, A Time Apart, holds great potential. This book is a love story that traverses the confines of time, life, and death, uniting two passionate and intriguing characters from different worlds and different ages. If you're like me, you'll be anxious to get your hands on the next installment so you can find out just how the author brings the protagonists through the obstacles of their unconventional romance and towards a happy future together. [...]

    14. I'm not a big reader of paranormal romance - but this one grabbed me. Strong witty characters, gorgeous settings and descriptions (Ireland), REAL dialog. It was a page turner and left me excited to read the next in the seriese only downside for me is I found this author, book and series right after publication - meaning I'll have to wait for the next one!

    15. A Time ApartExcellent story. Gr8 author. I was held within it's grip and couldn't put it down. A part of me wanted it to speed up so I could know the ending. 5 Thumbs up

    16. I had this book on my reading shelf for a long time, leftover from the days when there were new vampire romances coming out every month, and only after I read it and went in search for the sequel I found out that A Time Apart has been in the meantime republished under a different name (it is now called Resurrection).I loved the idea behind the plot of A Time Apart, though I didn't care much about the way it is written. It's repetitive in places and the editing could also be improved - and hopefu [...]

    17. To be continuedThat was a surprise! I was expecting this to have an ending but the story goes on.There is a lot of confusion and it isn't resolved by the end, just pushed aside. There are quite a few wrong words used and other typos but I was mostly able to figure out what the author meant. I'm not sure if I will read the next one.Mature content

    18. I honestly don't know how I finished this book as I was very disappointed with it. Perhaps it was the hope that it would improve but it missed the mark for me unfortunately.I felt that there was too much inner monologue and not enough dialogue between the characters and this made it confusing when the characters did speak in regards to trying to remember what was said prior to the next person speaking with all the thought processes in between. It was too easy to compare this with Twilight and Fif [...]

    19. I won this book from in exchange for an honest review.I enjoyed the storyline for the most part. The scene where they're in the bar miming at each other and they go for like 45 pages without saying a word was incredibly annoying, and the ending was a little meh, but the book was good enough to make me want to read the second one.
