    1. If you're looking for a read that will pull on your emotions, this is it. I enjoy reading books that will have me caught up in my feelings!Jacelynn is one of those characters that makes you want to climb onto the pages and give her some sound advice. The secondary story lines were interesting as well. I look forward to reading more from Faith Simone.

    2. I am not a fan of Christian fiction. I find most of them too preachy and predictable. But, I purchased “When the Real Thing Comes Along” by Faith Simone because I really love her short stories and poems. I think she is gifted with words and ideas, and her passion for writing comes through in her creative works and her blog. So of course, I bought her book in spite of its Christian fiction label and read it and was pleasantly surprised. Although the story is light in story conflict, it more t [...]

    3. This novel follows Jacelynn as her life is turned upside down when her past and her present collide. She no longer knows what her future will be. Everything she thought she left in her past is now part of her life again, threatening to drag her under. This novel had a strong link with religion and faith and I thought that was a great element. Jacelynn, Kim, Jason, Taylor and all of their friends are on different spiritual journeys trying to get back on the path that leads them home. Each of them [...]

    4. *I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review* I enjoyed the writing of this book. It didn't seem to give off an overly preachy vibe in my opinion but it definitely captured religion on just about every page. I liked that it was realistic when it comes to love and confusion but with faith and a relationship with God you'll find your way. Jacelynn was down to earth, sweet yet assertive and definitely had her issues. Jason seemed like the sweetest guy one could ask for and Tay [...]

    5. I remember reading on her profile that the author wishes that her words ring true - and I want to assure her: oh yes, they do! It's a rare thing finding a book that's so honest about the struggle with our own feelings while wanting to do God's will without really asking Him.This book is full of lovable characters, two wonderful men who are able to express their feelings, thoughts and faith - I wish there were more of this sort - a mother full of wisdom, good friends (Kim, Darren, Mike) and a wom [...]

    6. Thank you, Faith Simone, for a great read! Loved this deep story. It was well-written and filled with real-life issues. Yes, the struggles were real. The individual story lines for Jacelynn, Taylor, Kim, Jason, and their other friends will pull on your emotions, as they attempt to walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh. I kept wondering when Jacelynn would make her choice. I hope you will not be surprised. Somehow, I wasn’t.This novel is great for anyone but particularly for those who love a g [...]

    7. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and definitely feel that Faith Simone is an author to watch. She gets deep into the characters and oftentimes her prose is so poetic that you can just fall right into it. She writes the characters in such a way that you feel like you know them and she definitely knows how to keep a reader guessing because I had no idea who Jacelynn was going to choose in the end--and I certainly won't ruin it for others. Plus, I love the cover and knew as soon as I saw it that this [...]

    8. I don't consider myself to be a fast reader, but I finished the 500 pages of When the Real Thing Comes Along by debut novelist Faith Simone faster than I thought I would. Jacelynn, the heroine, doesn't relish being caught between an old romantic flame, Taylor, and a current one, Jason, but the principal lesson Jacelynn learns through her ordeal is worth holding out for. I essentially found the novel addictive, likely because the characters are so human, with believable strengths and flaws and qu [...]

    9. This book was recommended by someone on our 556 Facebook pagen't remember who, but thank you!556 Book Chicks didn't want to read itI will be the first to say I started reading the book and wanted to put it down immediately. I didn't want to become emotionally wrapped up in a religious book. Nothing against spiritual books, but sometimes they become too overwhelming and fake. I am so very glad that I stuck this one out. While it is spiritual, it deals with common situations and it was very realis [...]

    10. When I first started reading this book I thought it was going to be very predictable. It was far from it. I agree with other reviewers that it was not overly preachy. It conveyed the themes of forgiveness, grace, and redemption without a lecture. The back stories added to the twists and turns of the book but you never felt lost. The characters stories intertwined with each other and added to their relatability to real people and richness of the book. Jacelynnn was brilliantly written and could b [...]

    11. Jacelynn is in a coming-of-age moment except her existential crossroad is a religious one. Jacelynn has lost her faith and is not quite sure when it faltered. She’s very sure when she noticed it fully — when her ex-boyfriend Taylor showed up at her church one Sunday.Even though Jacelynn’s in a stable, safe and loving relationship she is still unfulfilled and searching for what she did not know. This well-written love story by debut novelist Faith Simone is a story that puts the Christian fa [...]

    12. This was my first book by this author. Jacelynn is caught between two loves, The steady comfortable guy she is with and the ex that shows up in her life years later- you know, the one that she was passionate about. This book deals with choices made, consequences felt, how relationships work. The characters felt real, and their feelings are expressed wonderfully and believable. The frustrations by the main characters are easily relatable to most people. The only concern, and thus the four star ra [...]

    13. This is a brand new author and I loved her debut book! There was a great depth in each of the characters and I was also moved by the over all message. It's a story of a girl who learned from heart ache that the love of Jesus is all sufficient and "The rest is just gravy". The only reason for not giving it a 5 was that at times I felt a disconnect with the characters when they talked in slang. There where also a couple uses of an inappropriate term. I still would recommend this book and look forw [...]

    14. *I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*I really liked the writing style of the author. I liked how she highlighted the path of forgiveness, second chances and redemption. The pace at which the story moved was steady and held my interest. The story was genuine and believable and altogether a great read.I would definitely suggest other readers to give it a go.Good work!

    15. Jacelynn is caught between two men; Jason and Taylor. Taylor was Jacelynn’s first love in college and Taylor hurt her real bad. Jacelynn tried to establish a relationship with Jason, only for Taylor to show back up professing his love for her. Jacelynn begins to struggle with her faith, but she learns to forgive others and herself. Good book!!!

    16. Halfway through Jacelynn aggravates me, but the overall message in the book captured me. Such a wonderful read.
