    1. I'm shocked that this author hasn't been sued. There's a big difference between books having similarities & a book being a play by play of another book with nothing but a few name changes. And, that's basically what was done here. You could take a check list from Divergent and every element of this book would be checked off. From dropping blood in the faction bowls and training scenes to character assassinations and brainwashing, this is NOTHING but a piss poor replica of Divergent. To add i [...]

    2. I would like to say that I did not start reading this book with high expectations, but this was a total dissapointment, to say the least. The first thing I thought when I started reading this was, wow this is a bit like Divergent, but it will soon get original. That did not happen, it was exactly like Divergent, and I do not understand why someone hasn't sued the author. It wasn't even a good copy of Divergent.Somehow Tamryn managed to copy Divergent, (down to almost everything, but the names) a [...]

    3. A world filled with holes I hate giving books one star, but the combination of the unoriginality and the terrible writing really ruined this story for me. A lot of people said it was a poorly written Divergent and I have to say I completely agree. However, I'm going to ignore the Divergent parallels and continue reviewing this book as if I'd never read Divergent before. Now, I'm going to be honest I was very hesitant to read this book due to all the poor reviews, but I'm a sucker for all thing d [...]

    4. After having read this book straight through, I'm still not sure what I think of it. Overall, the story was engaging, evidenced by my straight read. However, I was left with more questions than answers. Eva and her friends want nothing more than to be one of the Elect, which will give them a chance to work for their nation as well as provide money for their families. They are tested, and Eva is chosen from her community. She is whisked away and begins a grueling training regime with others from [...]

    5. What a terrible book! It seemed more like Divergent than Hunger Games (no clue why amazon compared the two). spoiler****What kind of book has a guy almost rape a girl (graphically) & then have her rush to try to save him? WTF! The end of this book was just awful. So many things were forgotten. Why, if George gave trainee's the guns for phase three was the main girl (cannot even remember name, that is how disgusted I was by her character) not given one? Who was shooting at the trainees? Matti [...]

    6. Couldn't do it. It bugged me too much of how at the beginning of the book it was too much like Divergent. There was nothing original about this book. Someone said that this was just bad FanFiction and I would have to agree. All you had to do was replace the names in this book with the ones from Divergent and you would have a FanFiction story. I don't know how it ends and I was curious since a lot of people said they enjoyed the ending but I hate when books steal from other authors. Yes, I've rea [...]

    7. Suspiciously similar to Divergent and other YA novels. It starts off a little different. The main character Eva, a twin, wants to help her family by being selected to be an elect. She doesn't know what that entails, but it would mean more money for her family. But once she goes to school for the testing, that is where the originality ends and the copy of Divergent begins. From there on out, it was like reading an underdeveloped version of Divergent. If you've read divergent and other YA, this is [...]

    8. I did finish this book, though most of it I was being annoyed by the waste of my time and I kept thinking it read like mediocre fan fiction. Then after finishing, I went to and skimmed all the reviews (29) where slightly more than half of them are 5-star raves. However, most of the remainder mention that The Elect: Malevolent seems to be a knock off (er, rip off) of Divergent. One reviewer even suggested it was actually Divergent fan fiction. Interesting thought. The premise/story is interesting [...]

    9. Bullshit. The author basically took the story line of Divergent and changed tiny little things. All she really did was change the names of the characters and take out all the great stuff that made readers fall in love with divergent. You felt no connection with the characters because everything was rushed. The book was a giant waste of my time and the author should be sued for stealing from divergent.

    10. Good readI enjoyed reading, I really liked the ending. I love dystopian novels and this was no exception. The only problem I found was that it is very similar to the Divergent series. Which was not that big of a deal since it had enough differences to make it enjoyable. I don't know if she plans on a second book but I will be keeping my eyes peeled for more.

    11. Surprise endingStarted off similar to another novel I have read in this genreen there was a surprising twist which I was happily surprised that it took a different direction which makes me interested in Book 2.

    12. Rip offThis 's a total rip off of the book The Fringe by Tarah Benner. I am so upset I'm seething. Do not buy this book. I'm appalled that this person is trying to steal another person's hard work.

    13. Very good read.I loved that the story had a good balance in suspense, action and romance. It was also a relief to have the plot wrapped up in one book, rather than wading through another trilogy.

    14. LOVED ITThis book was so good. Kudos to author and in some ways it was like Divergent but really it was different. I loved it! Please please have a sequel! I want to know what happens next!!!!!

    15. Divergent Knockoff Reminds me of Divergent in so many way. At least Divergent was good and the heroine wasn't a complete idiot.

    16. Dystopian NovelI really liked this book. Great story line and characters. Can't wait to read the next one.I hope there is a next one.

    17. OkayVery much like divergent. Not a bad book but reading this I was thinking that over and over. A decent dystopian book though.

    18. Knockoff of the Divergent seriesNot a bad book, but it's basically a knockoff of the Divergent series. Not nearly as good either. Would not recommend buying it.

    19. This is so derivative of Divergent that I can't believe someone hasn't sued. Seriously. It is the same story and almost identical events.

    20. Great book and very well writtenIt was good and entertaining great romance and action. It was very good and suspenseful I loved this book very much
