Manuel Cortes hid for 30 years in his home upon the institution of the Franco regime at the end of the Spanish civil war, to escape persecution and certain death because of his socialist beliefs and leftist activities as a leader and mayor of his community in a village called Mijas in Andalusia.This account of his time in hiding, and the historical circumstances that led to it, was very educational (I don't know much about Spanish history and political economy) and to [...]
