    1. What a great 5 star read! Visually satisfying and cleverly written. In a Baltic winter and manacled to an anchor, Fricis Svaars is alone. He knows his fate, but he’s a clever man. I like Fricis. Who wouldn’t? He’s strong, determined, powerfully built―has all the hallmarks of a survivor. But as we see him struggling to keep his head above water and weighed down with irons, there is that rare and unmistakable feeling that something could go horribly wrong.McCormick is a rare author who can [...]

    2. Exceptional short thriller. A precision cut gem. From the moment the sleigh stops in frozen wasteland, the suspense never lets up as Latvian political prisoner Fricis tries to cheat the death coming for him via Russian guards. 3. Bill McCormick exhibits his mastery of the art in this "long story" about Latvian protagonist Fricis, an imprisoned revolutionary in Czarist Latvia. While this isn't a full-length novel, McCormick brings life to this character who struggles to promote his goal that Latvia should be free and should be loved. Suspense and action are McCormick's specialties and fans won't be disappointed.
