    1. Very interesting; I knew some of this but not all. I found it sometimes confusing and hard to follow all the different players and the timeline but still an interesting worthwhile read.

    2. Love the idea and the information, but not the execution. It was difficult to follow the timeline and people it was covering.

    3. Well done guys! I didn't really know what to expect. I've read Portland Confidential and knew about bits and pieces but what I liked about this book is it is not vignette style but more chronological starting in the 1930s with the Waterfront Strike. My Portland labor history is spotty too and I just assumed the book would just barrel into the 1950s vice and the payoffs to look away. But this book digs a lot deeper and tries to make connections from the beginnings and pull out some new stories no [...]

    4. What I liked most about this book is the breadth of Portland history that was covered. Readers got more stories, in short, easy to digest chapters, that are all but forgotten in today's Portland, instead of focusing on just the vice scandal. After reading Dark Rose I wanted to read more about the corruption within the policing bodies, which this book offered and more. I loved the chapter on the Beer Wars, as I am a beer enthusiast - although I was disappointed that the wars were more about union [...]
