    1. Very good continuation of the story. I can't wait to find out what happens next. The small alliance of west Texas is spreading out across the state. This one goes into the gulf region around Houston and a few other small towns. The main "bad guys" in this one were an interesting touch. The author managed to stay original, not just having the evil overlord who took over the town. There is a little of that, but it's not the whole book. The second town they go to was excellently crafted. And the fin [...]

    2. In My Not So Humble Opinion Joe Nobody stepped away from the formula that made the Holding Their Own series a bang up read. The book: The Directives is a good read, just not a thrilling read. Joe's writing style is an easy read and I thoroughly enjoy his books. The only reason that I gave this 3 stars was because it was more of a blueprint type of book versus a typical survivalist book.

    3. Like the rest of his books, Joe Nobody has succeeded in playing with my emotions. I anxiously wait for one of his books to come out and once it has come out, I loose all self control and devour very quickly. Before I know it, the book is over and I'm back to anxiously waiting for the next. This roller coaster of emotions should be the aim of every author and Joe Nobody has succeeded mightily.

    4. Better and betterI'm several books deep in this series now and I dread the day I have no more to read. I grew up in west Texas and while the names have been changed, I know the towns very well. Played football against a lot of em. If tshtf in the manner described in these books, I could imagine an alliance forming just like this.

    5. Holds up in an A+ SeriesA different plot approach to the survival, warring run-and-gun typical of this series. The over-arching plot focused on The Directives- large-scale policy implementation for society to get back on its feet. I enjoyed this book just as much as every other in the series.

    6. Another great installment in the series. Whether Nature or Adversity dished out by Man, it is a good struggle being told.

    7. I so loved this series. Terry, Bishop & Son, their entourage, their friends, their battles. Such a great tale ! Keep going Mr author
