    1. I'm a little torn about this book. I liked the fact that it was set during a time period one doesn't often see as a setting for stories - Reconstruction. I felt that I learned something from the story about how contentious that time period was and how, especially from the viewpoint of Southerners, difficult the process of being re-integrated into the union was, often because of conniving by men out to profit themselves. I learned about some local history, too, that I hadn't known anything about [...]
