    1. A REVIEW OF 'PENNY NICHOLS AND THE MYSTERY OF THE LOST KEY.'Here is Mildred Wirt, author of Nancy Drew and Penny Parker, writing under another pseudonym. This predates the Penny Parker series and shows a lot of Drew influence, eg: the father's a detective. In all 3 cases the heroine is motherless and independent. It's nice to go back to a time when 'mystery' was not a synonym for 'murder' and crimes of another nature were still afoot. This one involves crooks trying to horn in on an inheritance [...]
