1 thought on “An Impossible Mate”

    1. This was a decent shifter story with themes of destined mates and some insta-love and lust. The blurb really says it all. Matt doesn’t need a mate, doesn’t want one to be exact, but when his wolves bring in an injured trespasser, the pull of the scrappy stranger is too hard to resist.Jesse has been on his own for as long as he can remember. He’s never had a pack and his exposure to other wolves has been minimal; his origins are a mystery even to himself. So when a tough sexy alpha says he [...]

    2. A pack of outcasts and misfits? An alpha who doesn’t really want to lead? A shifter who has no idea how to recognize pack territory nor any knowledge of sifter history? Sounds like a recipe for disaster, but I have to say I ended up really liking the story. Partly because the characters were great, each with their own little quirk (or two), and partly because I just like stories with a mysterious history and a group of men who have to fight for their right to exist.Jesse is not just an amazing [...]

    3. 3.5I like the concept of a pack of misfits who have all come together to form a strong pact, each with their own problems and issues which I assume we will find out more about in the coming books. I enjoyed this story and it was a nice set up to future stories with these characters. I liked Jesse with his attitude and smart mouth, I do hope that we find out more about what happened to him when he was young and how he knows nothing about his past, but he will definitely be one to cause conflict a [...]

    4. This review can be found at The Blogger Girls review site.An Impossible Mate is about Jesse, who wanders into Matt’s territory injured. Taking Jesse in is no hardship except for the fact that they don’t know what type of trouble he’s in nor whether that trouble has followed him. What Matt doesn’t expect to find is a mate in Jesse or the fact that Jesse seems to have any knowledge of shifters, their customs or even that having a mate is real. Not only that but Matt is desperately trying t [...]

    5. This is a really good shifter series and once I read the first I went and bought the rest, then I proceeded to power through the whole series. After I read the author's book, Blowing Off Steam (and LOVED it) I went and looked for more of her work and was lucky enough to find this little nugget.

    6. color me surprised, I really, really liked this one. I was not sure if I should read it because there are some less than charming reviews out there. but this story is really good.I liked the characters - all of them. Matt and Jesse are interesting and far from perfect but I really fell in love with the pack. can't wait to read their stories.I think my favorites are Karl and Jasonthe story and the worldbuilding were good and the characterization and development of the relationship well done, even [...]

    7. This is probably the only shifter series I would ever recommend. It's probably not an exaggeration to say that I enjoy nothing and there's literally nothing more tired in the MM genre than sodding shifters again. Fielding, however, somehow manages to write an entire series of shifter stories without me rolling my eyes at everything and skimming because I have read all this shit before. The trick here is not anything fresh or new. Most of what happens in this series have happened elsewhere before, [...]

    8. The voice of the characters here is what makes this standout. I loved Jesse's voice and his conviction and fortitude. Yet at the same time when it was time to think the impossible - that he might stay - he wasn't so stubborn that he ran first and asked questions later. Now some of that was Matt but I liked that Jesse didn't do stupid things - he wore who he was on the outside as well as the inside and seeing Matt able to get through to him was really a great journey. In a sea of paranormal MM (a [...]

    9. My first thought this better be a damn series cuz I be angry if left at that.Well I'm in luck! The beginning and all the hoopla mysteriousness behind Jessie's mountain excursion was on the rough side but my attention has been grabbed by the storyline.Jessie's quirkiness and rough around the edges speak makes a colorful character. Hope to learn more about his past in future books. On another note with the word speak in mind I did find it annoying that around was shortened to round EVERY time in t [...]

    10. First time reading this author. I love the cover which is what drew my attention, I love the story which while it reflects the classic werewolf stories, it has it's own merits, and lovable characters. I'm looking forward to more books in this series

    11. 3.5Much better than I had expected/hoped (I try not to let myself get too excited anymore, it lessens the pain when my hopes crash onto the floor.) Will be interesting to see if the second book is as good.

    12. Enjoyed the story and its characters, especially Jesse (who was a true riot). Will definitely move on to read the next installments in this series.

    13. Lord. This is an anomaly. It did not suck. At all. I liked it and yes, that's a rare thing. Liked the men.

    14. 4.5 Stars, Review by Lily for ScuttlebuttReviewsMs Fielding again presents us with a well done MM shifter romance, featuring masculine heroes. Many times MM shifter stories stick to this routine of talky-talky, flowery, sickly-sweet declarations of love, but An Impossible Mate skips all that and is just good. Even the intimate scenes were sensuous and tasteful, a "wow" factor for me, because instead of cringing or yawning, I found myself caught up in this couple's affectionate passion.Jesse, [...]

    15. To read my full review, please visit onsilverwingz/201Matt is a bad ass alpha who left a pack and ends up forming his own. He finds Jesse wounded in his territory and knows that's his mate. Jesse is a smart ass to everyone but has a soft spot for horses. He guards his independence and doesn't really know how to function in a pack of wolves because he was raised by humans. Later, he learns to trust in others and share his time. Trouble comes in the form of an aggressive alpha that wounded Jesse a [...]

    16. This was my first time reading author Joy Lynn Fielding and I can honestly say it will not be the last. With An Impossible Mate, she managed to give me a story full of strong characters and whetted my appetite to learn what happens next. All while not leaving me feeling cheated with Jesse and Matt’s love story. Both Jesse and Matt were strong, alpha males. I was unsure if either would be able to bend enough to make things work, but Ms. Fielding showed us with love and acceptance compromise is [...]

    17. Jesse is on the run. He is wounded en brought to Matt's house. The lust is instant and the sex hot. Other than that it is a basic shifter story. Only difference is that Matt's pack is a ragtag pack. Not everybody is powerful and Matt never really wanted to be an Alpha. Jesse is from a royal line of shifters thought to be extinct. Although this makes Jesse very valuable, he has no interest in shifter politics. Nor does Matt or his pack. But keeping Jesse alive and away from public eye is very dif [...]

    18. Wow! Sexy story with m/m romance and a shifter packI'm hooked!!! I can't wait to read more by this author and in this series. I thought the characters were great, Jesse is stubborn, has a attitude and smart mouth and Matt is a loner but also the alpha of a misfit pack. Great concept and story, the story flowed perfectly, just enough twists and turns and wow.e sexy in this story is a page turner that's for sure. I loved it from start to finish and want more. Very sweet, sexy and intriguing story. [...]

    19. This was a very enjoyable read from an author who is new to me. Smart-ass Jesse and bad-ass alpha Matt made such a great couple and I loved how everyone banded together to fight their enemy Cale, who yep was just an ass in general. I think there are still some very interesting stories to be told about the other ragtag members of Matt's pack and I look forward to reading them. Well done :)[The cover is gorgeous too :)]

    20. A great beginning to a series. I love that they're a small pack and they're all misfits, loners and outcasts. They're a family by choice now, not blood. Jesse is impossible not to adore with his smart mouth, bad attitude, and deep down loneliness. Matt is just plain hot. Seriously. He's all alpha yummy and just makes you want to stay and live there, too. I really enjoyed this and look forward to more.

    21. First, I would like to thank the author Joy Lynn Fielding for giving me this book for an honest review. I liked the various characters, they each had their own personality, their antics were quite amusing to down right funny at times. I would have liked a bit more background, but other than that the story flowed quite nicely.

    22. This is much better writing than 90% of the shifter novels on the market EXCEPT the sexual chemistry and sex scenes need a major dose of Viagra.

    23. I spent about 4 hours going through these series, this is the only one that I read in full, and I skipped quite a few pages from all the next sequels.I'm afraid this series is not for me, specially book number 3.I will rated only this story, as I think is cheating to rated the rest.

    24. This was cute. I really liked Jesse and his attitude :) I won't be reading on in this series until the last book is written. So I hope it's soon.

    25. I liked this novel, it was a well-rounded shifter story. Nothing particularly new to be added to the mythology. We are left with an element of danger that hooked me for the sequel.
