    1. The sequel to Rouge, Embers & Ice by Isabella Modra, is far better, with more promising and adrenaline-rushing actions, a complete bone-chilling and nerve-racking novel. Thank you Good Reads, for choosing me as a First-Reads winner and a huge thanks to Isabella for sending me over the book in return for an honest review.Hunter is lost and heart-broken from Eli's death. She gets herself trapped in a deadly place called, ICE, an institution for studying genetically-gifted kids, which is run by [...]

    2. 5 stars for all the heroesBut seriously though WHATTHEFUDGE?!There must be more pages to the book! You can't end it like that! It's like OH MY GOD!And once again, I have succeeded in traumatizing myself with a book. A shocker. Yet I must admit that Embers & Ice was AMAZINGLY good and well written. The writing remarkably improved and combined with the already awesome plot development, we finally got a fantastic book! YAY!After the shocking ending of the first book, Hunter was left alone and b [...]

    3. You can read this review and more on my blog:I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.Well, that was a roller coaster ride of a story or maybe I would be better off comparing it to a house of horrors!Lately I have been reading a lot of post apocalyptic novels and those are always emotionally draining so I thought I would get a nice break from emotional torture with this book. I read Rouge, the first book in the series, and while it had some emotional m [...]

    4. Oh my god Again a huge thanks to my friend Aditi Saha for recommending this book and telling me how good the sequel was because had it not been for that i might have delayed this a bit long but the curiosity got the best of me and yet again i accomplished another success by finishing this book in straight one day.Rogue the first in this series ended at a very crucial point leaving you curious about the sequel and for all those who have read Rogue and are waiting for the copy of Embers & Ice [...]

    5. So much better than the first, as you can see by the reviews. Keep reading guys!! And a HUGE thanks to everyone who has :) xo

    6. Modra's second books in the Rouge series brings some surprising changes: the villain we had come to despise in the first book reveals a different side to his character and becomes more of an anti-hero; a new villain proves to be perfectly despicable without redeeming characteristics; and new characters steal (and break) the hearts of Hunter Harrison and readers.Hunter is despondent after seeing Joshua take Eli's life. In her grief and pain she was easily taken by the agents Joshua had warned her [...]

    7. Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.Honestly, I was wary of reading this book, after reading #1 (I gave it 2 stars, mostly because I just couldn't empathize with Hunter), however I'm so glad I did read this because it's really good! The action is slow to start, but that matches the plot. The story doesn't focus solely on Hunter - thank goodness for me - but instead oscillates between Hunter and Joshua. Although Hunter is still as stubborn as ever, and make [...]

    8. Embers and Ice by Isabella Modra is book two of the Rouge series and picks up about two months after the end of book one. Hunter has been captured by the Agents and is now at the ICE facility for testing. There she finds other kids like her with special powers. Grieving Eli moves to the back of her mind as she begins a fight to free herself and the others like her from ICE. Joshua has gone mad and is trying to fix his mistakes so that he can save Hunter. I do believe I have found a new favorite [...]

    9. I was given an ecopy of this book in exchange for an honest review.Talk about a cliffhanger! Wow, seriously dramatic book! For those of you who don't know this is the second book in the series rouge and follows the story of Hunter, a young adult who had an extraordinary fiery talent. In this book the Agents have finally caught up with her, but this is just the beginning of a whole new chapter of her adventure. My first piece of advice, if you don't like the idea of more touchy subjects, don't read [...]

    10. Rouge#1 was a throughly entertaining ride which introduced us to high-kicking heroine Hunter.Rouge#2, which is a continuation of the story, is even better. Titled Embers & Ice, and complete with yet another stunning cover, one wonders if it could match the first story, or hopefully - better it?I bought the paperback version of this book, and it is truly awesome to have on my shelf. From the very first line:-"Everyone is wrong about hell."you, dear reader, will be hooked. Embers & Ice rais [...]

    11. ***I received the eBook free as a review copy from the author in exchange for an honest review*** I don’t know how, but once again I got the completely wrong impression of this book just like I did the first. Obviously I’d already finished the first instalment Rouge and so went straight on to Embers & Ice but I glimpsed the synopsis and saw only “Everyone is wrong about hell”. I took this way too literally, and thought she must have died/gone to hell somehow… (I’ve seen it before [...]

    12. I am still in awe in how this book ended. Isabella has a gift in writing cliffhanging endings. Where do I begin? The book starts off exactly where Rouge left off. If you have not read the first book in the series, you will have some difficulty understanding the relationships in this book. Hunter is picked up the Agents and sent to their facility. While there she makes connections to other "mutants" and possibly a new love interest. We are also introduced the maniacal mastermind and captor Dr. Wo [...]

    13. (I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a review).(This review may contain spoilers).Having read the first book in this series, I was fairly eager to read the second one; though I have so many books to read, I keep forgetting what some of my deadlines are.It was good to see the characters from the previous book, as well as meet new ones. I felt that the author made Joshua come across as a much more well-rounded character in this book. The switching between the two different groups wo [...]

    14. The sequel to Rogue, Embers and Ice, brings the readers a whole new level of action. It follows right after Rogue ended. Hunter facing the fact that Eli is not longer with her because of Joshua( or so she thinks). She didn't have time to comprehend everything when she is faced with another challenge, she is capture by ICE, an institution for people like her, with superpowers. But, it's not like the institution for gifted individuals on the X-men movie. ICE only desires power and control at all c [...]

    15. After the ending of book one I thought situation couldn't get worse. And then it became much much worse. It was easy to read this book too. I quickly became immersed into the story. I got to know better not only Hunter but also some other characters. I liked that. It made me question whether ones I thought became enemies in first part truly are enemies. There were more characters introduced and I found that I started to like them too. It took me deeper into the story.I would say events in this bo [...]

    16. Hunter's story is continued in this novel wherein she is captured by the Agents and brought to a facility (called ICE) where she astonishingly meets other children with special abilities. There aren't any adults in ICE because none of the children live beyond their early twenties. Their bodies break down from all of the testing and eventually give up. Meanwhile, Hunter's guardian, Joshua, is trying to thaw Eli and the teacher he'd frozen, hoping they'll still be alive without brain damage. My opi [...]

    17. I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This is a really good creative story. Some of the powers the "mutants" have are remarkable. The author's descriptions of the lunacy going on around Hunter is very vivid. She has created some very interesting characters. I liked Hunter from the beginning of the series but she finds her heroic self in this book. She proves to be strong even without her powers. She is a true leader. She is also self-sacrificing which ev [...]

    18. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.I read Rouge (Isabella Modra also gave me a copy of that to read and review) and LOVED it. I was super excited to see that the 2nd was out and Isabella wanted me to read this one as well. The story is told from 2 POV (which I LOVE!). One being Hunters and the other being Joshua's. Hunter is figuring out here new location and doing what she can to understand it. She meets new friends who are "super" like her and together they wo [...]

    19. I was asked to read this by the author as I had read her previous book Rouge which I adored. This carries on from where Rouge finished. Hunter has been caught by the Agents and is sent to ICE. You get to meet loads of different and weird characters who has special powers like Hunter. You also get to know a slight bit more about Joshua, Eli and Jenny on a road trip.I loved the way Hunter is starting to make herself into a hero and she starts standing up for herself. There are a few twists and tur [...]

    20. Initially I reviewed the first book in this series as a bit cliché. However I realized after reading this installment how incorrect that title was. This book is genius. A female super hero up again her greatest challenge yet without the aid of her powers? I don't want to give too much away. This book surprised me. It took enough twists and turns that by the end I was struggling to catch my breath. Excellent story. Worth the price of admission. I can't wait to see more from this author.

    21. I received a copy of this story in exchange for a honest review. This is book two in the series and it outshines the previous book. The characters have been given more animation and the storyline flows much smoother. Very enjoyable read.

    22. omg what a nail biting follow up!!! I couldnt put it down! ! I am so anxious and nervous for what is next!! I love all the new characters and their stories especially Will!!

    23. AMAZING!!Embers & Ice the second book in Isabella Modra “Rouge” Series doesn’t disappoint! I was offered this book to read and review and jumped at the chance because I loved Rouge so much. As the first book did Embers & Ice drew me in from the beginning and I hated having to stop reading to deal with real life. This book starts where Rouge left off with Hunter being captured by the agents and waking up in a cell at ICE or hell or the death cave, whatever name you choose to call it [...]

    24. 3.5 stars. Starts off right after Rouge ends. Rouge is sort of an off-beat love story and Embers & Ice is totally different, set in a sadistic institution for mutated children. The dark sadistic aspect of the book kept it from being a 4 for me.Likes:* Hunter isn't so crazy in this book* Hunter is more focused and thinks more of other people* Title Fire & Ice - Ice could be Joshua's ice power or ICE(view spoiler)[* Lots of cool powers* Hunter makes friends and becomes a leader* Hunter doe [...]

    25. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Embers & Ice is the sequel of Isabella Modra's debut novel, Rouge. It follows Hunter, who has a supernatural power of fire, after she gets captured by a power-hungry institution, known as ICE. For years, ICE has kidnapped kids who had any supernatural power so they could study them. Meanwhile, Hunter's guardian, Joshua has to run from the same institution with a couple of unlikely people. This book is so incredible and well-wri [...]

    26. *Review copy provided by the author in exchange of an honest review* I was pretty excited to start this book because of what happened in the first one. Even though my studies kind of got in the way, I still managed to find some time to read. Luckily, this book did not disappoint me at all. I think that this one was better than the first one in terms of action and plot twists. Speaking of plot twists, I'll try my best not to give away a lot about the story.Hunter, after being devastated from losi [...]

    27. the story was divided into two parts, one following Hunter, another Joshua. after being caught by the agents, Hunter was brought to ICE, an institution that gathered and studied children with different special abilities. Hunter became one of their newest subject. she was forced through cruel experiments and agonizing tests to measure her ability. here, she learned that no one lived passed the age twenty-one and Will, her new best friend in ICE was now twenty-one. on the other hand, Joshua was es [...]

    28. I quite enjoyed the second book of the Rouge series. After reading the debut novel Rogue by Isabella Modra I was looking forward to the continuation of the story. After reading it, I can see how the author has grown with her writing. Modra has a style of writing that captures my attention. This book was more stable with the plot and filled with more action. I enjoyed meeting the other ‘mutants’ and being introduced to their special powers. For me, I felt like the ending for the part with Jos [...]

    29. I was given a copy of "Embers & Ice" by the author, Isabella Modra, in exchange for an honest review. I really liked book one, "Rouge", so I was thrilled when asked to read book two. It was so great that I am going to have to try to be patient waiting for the next book. The theme of these books are young mutants who have all different "powers." In book two we meet several new characters. The author does a good job in rounding out her characters. The main lead is a strong teenage girl. She ha [...]
