    1. The Link Between Science and HorrorCarol Oates, you have officially horrified me with this taut, suspenseful novella.Lincoln (Link) Downing is a young man who becomes intimate for the first time with his girlfriend Nancy, after senior prom, only to crash his car and suffer a near-fatal head injury. Luckily neurosurgeon Matthew saves Lincoln with his revolutionary brain treatment. Dr. Matthew still pines for Lincoln's mother Kathleen, who married another man when Matthew left town to study medici [...]

    2. Great, great story. A classic. From the very first words, Unmade has an eerie tone that gets steadily darker as you- wait, no, I don't want to give away any spoilers. Just know that this is a beautifully-written story that had me riveted throughout, wanting to know where it was going, and where it went was highly satisfying. For a short novella, it brought up a lot of interesting themes that have kept me thinking. I'd classify it as dark NA with explicit scenes that are wonderfully and tastefull [...]

    3. I was extremely surprised by this book. Not that I expect anything less from this author - in my opinion, she is absolutely amazing - but with it being a novella, I wasn't expecting SO MUCH depth in the book. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the whole thing. Constantly wondering what was going on. Who was who, etc etc. I was able to figure some things out, but other things not. I was very surprised, in a good way, of the ending. In my opinion, it was really the only acceptable ending, so [...]

    4. (4.5 stars)This is the first time I've read anything by this author but it will certainly not be my last. I was very impressed with all that was included in such a short novella (under 60 pages) without feeling rushed or unresolved in any way at all. Unmade is just a sheerly brilliant and clever horror/murder mystery that is beautifully written. I notice it is labeled YA but I would say this is Mature YA as it does contain some violence and sexual content.Highly recommended!

    5. This one is a killer-thriller.This New Adult horror novella UNMADE by Carol Oates is short and unsweet. A savory mix between Ray Bradbury and Stephen King. Here's what happens:On prom night Lincoln Dowling attempts to save a wounded dog--and is struck by a car. His prognosis is bad--traumatic brain injury with days to live--and his mother seeks the help of renown neuroscientist, Dr. Matthew Baker, to save her only child.Mrs. Dowling and Dr. Baker have a past--as in they were lovers years back in [...]
