    1. This traditional literature book, good for grades 3-5, is chalk full of information and it is told in such a way that it is not monotonous to read. I like how the story was told and how the characters were developed. The content given during this book is very informative but it did not feel like a textbook, which many informative books can be. The pictures also helped draw me in. The way they were drawn just had such a presence about them that allowed me to feel like I was there with them.

    2. There are many tall tales about Johnny Appleseed, but many people don't know that John Chapman was a tale-spinner himself. Here he narrates one of his favorites--all about the time his half brother Nathaniel came to live with him in the wilderness of western Pennsylvania. Filled with humor, this story shows the compassion and independent spirit of this quintessentially American hero.

    3. This is an entertaining tall tale version about John Chapman told from his point of view. The author added informative notes about John's real life.
