    1. Cracks in the Pavement by Martin Hopkins is a story about a young man that feels he has a dull life in the city working the same hours at the same job day in and day out. Dan has some unusual run-ins with the homeless on his way to and from work. Dan and his friends share stories after a long day's work. Dan is trying to get over his former girl friend. Can Dan sort his humdrum life out? This novel has many different facets. On one level it is a contemporary story about a young man's life. On anot [...]

    2. I was given a free copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.Dan has a 9 to 5 office job that he hates, and seems to tolerate nights in the pub with his friends. Every night, pretty much. He's a borderline alcoholic, becoming drunk even when it would serve him much better not to. His ex-girlfriend stumbles into the story, and he sets out on the road to avenge her, though she doesn't seem to really want him to. The place he is lead to is darker than the place he already was [...]

    3. Dan is a working class guy, he’s bored by his work and wants a way out of the nine to five life. He spends his nights in pubs, as he is a borderline alcoholic. When his ex-girlfriend stumbles back into his life he decides to avenge her. He ends up on the wrong side of the tracks without a way to get back to his old life. This book is darker than I’d expected - but it was excellent. It touched on several dark topics that a lot of people tend to turn a blind eye to, including sexual assault, su [...]

So if you are offended by explicit sex scenes look away now. This is dark A Dickensian novel that follows an ordinary man, Daniel. He works in an ordinary job. The story starts off following Dan's life, a kind of hamster wheel like existence. To work, back home, the pub, sleep, to work, back home, pub, sleep.Dan's mundane and eventl [...]
