    1. Leather & Lace is the first book in DiAnn Mills' Texas Legacy series, released by Barbour. With this novel Mills has woven a powerful tale of one woman's redemption from her past and one man's release from an all-consuming bitterness, through the grace of God having their lives restored and their wounded spirits healed. The theme of this novel reminded me of this passage from the book of Joel that I had come across several years ago when a friend of mine was going through a very difficult ti [...]

    2. This was a pretty emotional read. I teared up several times. Casey is a heroine its hard not to like. Since the age of 14, she's been with the Jenkins gang. Following her brother away from an abusive household only to wind up in an even worse situation, Casey longs for a normal life. One day while the gang is away on a robbery, she leaves with plans to get as far away as she can, but on the first night she is stopped by Morgan, a lawyer/bounty hunter bound on seeing Jenkins put away. Even if tha [...]

    3. Probably a 3.5The romance was good, and the story line was good. But I do think that it could've been condensed a lot. There was a lot of repetition, and a little preachy in places. At times Morgan was such a jerk, I am surprised that Casey even bothered. I know he had a rough past, but his words were so cruel. Anywho, I'm glad I read it and will read the next one.Moral Note: Talk of drinking, brothels, rape (nothing too graphic). 1-2 language (heck). Mild to heavy violence.

    4. Good story line, exciting plot, very readable and a very strong message of trust in the one you love and total trust in God being in control of your life.

    5. A poignant, historical romance set in the West during the late 1800s. In this first book of the Texas Legacy series, fugitive Casey O’Hare tries to forsake the outlaw life for a chance to start her life anew, but she’s pursued by the law and the outlaw gang leader. Both want her dead. Will she ever find a place to call home? This book was a little slow at first, and I didn't know if I was going to like it since the main female character is a lady gunslinger who ended up with a gang in the old [...]

    6. Reading a Christian novel, especially a romance one, always surprises me when at the end I realize I've seen new truths in God's word. I highlighted (this was a Kindle version) several passages -- too many to include here. "As a believer you can't run anywhere that God won't find you.""God either takes away the ugliness in our lives or walks with us through it.""Just listen for the quiet voice of God. Sometimes we are so busy praying that we forget to hush and simply let Him [God] speak."This b [...]

    7. I really liked this book. Casey O’Hare is a woman wanted for robbery and murder in the wild, wild west. Casey O'Hare wants a new start in life. But one leaves Davis Jenkins and lives to tell about it. Pursued by the gang, Casey is trapped by a mysterious stranger who takes her as a pawn to get to Jenkins. A strikingly handsome lawyer, could this Morgan Andrews be an angel sent to deliver her - or the devil setting her up for the kill? This story is a gripping story portraying the amazing gifts [...]

    8. I was a little uncertain on how to rate this one. Let me start by explaining how I purchased the first three books of series. I had purchased books 2 & 3 at a used book store. Since they didn't have book one I purchased it in the form of an ebook. I have already read all three.I always read a series in order, so I started with Leather and Lace. As I was reading I kept thinking, "this is so unlike Diann Mills." I found myself wondering if it was her first book (which it wasn't). I really like [...]

    9. Riding with an outlaw gang, Casey has learned to be tough, but she never lowered her standards to match theirs. When she runs from them, she’ll need her wits to survive.Leather and Lace is a fun Western, filled with outlaws and lawmen, guns and innocent bystanders. It is an adventure, but not one that leaves you looking over your shoulder. Much of the story focuses on the characters and how their circumstances affect them. Watching Casey build genuine friendships with those around her lends cr [...]

    10. The beginning drew me in right away: a female outlaw, running away from one possessive man only to be caught by another vengeful man. The descriptions of the cold, the scenery, the night sky--beautiful! From the start I sensed an intriguing adventure to come. While an adventure did follow in the rest of the story, it wasn't quite as thrilling or action-packed as I hoped it would be. There are some great lessons and reminders throughout the book that come a little close to preachy but still make t [...]

    11. In LEATHER AND LACE, the first in the Texas Legacy Series you follow Casey O'Hare, an unlikely heroine as she tries to put her outlaw days behind her. Unbeknownst to her, she is being followed by Morgan Andrews, a man bent on using her to flush out Jenkins, the notorious outlaw she's been riding with. Morgan's intentions change when he realizes Casey isn't the harden criminal the wanted posters have made her out to be. Now, he has to find a way to keep her from the law and Jenkin's long enough t [...]

    12. Casey O'Hare is wanted to robbery and murder. She's on the run from the law and from the gang. She wants freedom, but on her run she is ambushed by Morgan Andrews. Andrews holds her hostage to bring in the brutal Davis Jenkins. Unfortunately, bullets fly and Morgan is shot. Casey and Morgan run for a doctor and then got their seperate ways. Morgan returns to his roots while Casey cotinues to hide Jenkins, who's out for blood.Leather and Lace is book one of Texas Legacy series. It's a high speed [...]

    13. This book was a heavy and intense saga. It's quite incredible how much the author was able to fit into one book!Feels:There was very little lightheartedness in this book which became kind of a downer as it went on.My heart genuinely ached for Casey.I wish initially that the author had written Casey and Morgan more time together; a longer journey to bond over. There would've then been no reason for Morgan to feel confused about his insta-love feelings for Casey.Due to the intense nature of this b [...]

    14. I liked this book. Casey is the type of character I love. She's been dealt a heavy hand in life, but has the strength to overcome the trials she faces. I love characters like Casey, and so naturally I loved this book.I liked the way in which this story was told. I also loved the character Morgan. This book was turly inspirational and I'm glad I read it.

    15. Reading this fascinating story of Casey, who rides with outlaws with her brother. When she decides to escape this kind of life, she meets Morgan, I decided that this was not your"run-of-the mill" western/adventure/romance book! My new term is complimentary, as"run-of-the Mills" book means to read it right away!

    16. This was a good story but the characters were a bit confusing at times. They jumped around so much I found it hard to follow their emotional ups and downs. Plus the last few chapters one of the main characters just kept thinking the same thing over and over for months. I got lost in it.I did like the storyline and who the characters were overall.

    17. Picked this one up randomly at the bookmobile. Shouldn't have. Realized half way in it was a Christian Fiction. But that was fine. Explained a lot actuallybut just a wee bit too 'too' for me. Story too simple. Rational too passive. Characters responses too unrealistic. Sorry. no go here.

    18. An amazing Old-Western romance that took a whole lot of twists and turns! The way DiAnn Mills writes makes you feel as if you were experiencing the events right there with the characters. I would easily read this book again!

    19. This book was WAY to shallow, and a little too fast paced. Plegh Not to mention the same thoughts coming out of the main character's head totally annoyed me. Gracious, could we not have moved on a little faster?

    20. I dragged through this one. To be honest, though, I don't like westerns (I was trying to broaden my reading choices). It had action/suspense, but it's mostly a love story.

    21. Great story! I am so glad I finally got around to finishing it! Diann Mills is such a great author!!

    22. Loved this book, she handled various scenarios very well, from action to death. I did find it a little predicable at times, but it was still an enjoyable read.

    23. Okay story. The author seemed all over the place with Casey and Morgan's feelings for each other. Just when I thought they had worked everything out she started giving him the cold shoulder.

    24. This book was amazing with suspense, a wonderful Godly woman with wonderful insight, and of course a bit of romance. I can't wait to read book 2 in this series! I highly recommend this book!

    25. It didn't take me long to read this book because it was very interesting. The author knows how to keep exciting adventures alive. I will definitely read more books by this author.
