    1. The Legend of the Lake by Phil NorkBook sounded interesting and I can't put the book down. It will be one of my favorite for this month.Starts out in early 1900's when the grandfather and grandmother buy into a land development in southern WI where they go to visit every weekend leaving the big city in IL for much deserved time off.Over the years they get to make suggestions as to what they want the area to be and how things change over time, including children. Author is so descriptive you can [...]

    2. This a quaint story about a family, the Krons, and their generational memories starting with the great grandparents to the last generation's character, beginning in the earlier 1900’s and concluding in 1984, describing their colorful life details and traditions, ending with the character coming back on his 50th birthday to relish the lasting memories of his past.It opens with Great Grandpa Kron and his dream to purchase a cottage. It is a warm story about a generational family history starting [...]

    3. There’s a campfire up on the hill, beside the rose garden. A group of kids, still wet from swimming in the lake, are grouped around an old man. He smiles as the kids around him argue among themselves as to what story they want to hear this night.“I want to hear about the hamburger guy!”“Nah, we heard that one last night. Hey, Gramps, how about the one where Al Capone used to live here? And the speak-easy, and the…”“No, I wanna hear how he met Nana.”And thus it goes at the Kron fa [...]

    4. A Subliminal TreatFamily is the single most important aspect of our lives. Join Philip Nork as he digs deep into his kinfolks past, his lineage, and ultimately, a promising future. Legends of the Lake, while not being perfect, has an undeniable charm and an underlying depth of emotion that will truly touch your heart. This novel is like a cool sip of water on a scorching summers’ noontide. Philip captures everything about the good ol’ days, and leaves the reader satisfied, but somehow, still [...]

    5. Well, Philip sure has a way with words! His tale of family traditions brings back so many memories of times with my Grandparents! The tales they tell! His description of the Lake getaway are so perfect you can almost feel like you are there! Fishing, growing roses, sleeping on the floor,,,wonderful. His Grandparents gave him a lot of very sage advice that he seems to try to put to use in his life.I love the idea that they knew Al Capone, influenced the making of bratwurst and hamburgers, helped c [...]

    6. Philip Nork has captured the nostalgic memories we all wish we could share. A multi-generational cabin maintained for generations in one family, with stories that become family legends. The good, the bad and the forlorn all make appearances in this story, told with perspective, compassion and empathy in the wings. Philip Nork explores what many recognize as the American Dream, and does so with a sense of history, realism and truth. I would recommend his writings to history buffs, family accounta [...]

    7. Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars. Family vacations can bring back a lot of memories. This story lets you follow the summer of vacation. I truly felt like I was part of the family enjoying the lake, fires, fresh lemonade, and learning from life experiences with the characters. The memories of once you are older and wishing you could go back. This truly is a book to bring a smile to your face and a warmth to your heart.

    8. legends, legacies and generationsLegends of generations and legacies of stories that continue on. This story doesn't just tell you the stories created on the lake, once called Snapping Turtle lake, but makes you think of your own legacy and generations. Not every story is totally true but the heart countered changes the impact of the storyteller. It's another amazing story by Nork t just a writer but a great storyteller. Highly recommended.

    9. I read mostly thrillers(spy story, political or detective). But I found this book interesting. Who does not like a vacation with fishing and getting to know the grandkids? The book gave me a feeling that as if I am the one having the vacation.
