    1. “Every believer has a need for an understanding of systematic theology, but very few theology books present material in a personal, devotional format that appeals to the most popular level of believers. Dr. Thrasher manages to communicate the most academic biblical truth with the heart and personal connection of a pastor, achieving a depth of knowledge at an extremely approachable level. It's the astute wisdom of a professor packaged in the comfortable relatability of a friend.” (Moody Publi [...]

    2. In his book, God As He Wants You to Know Him, Bill Thrasher asserts that we can know God personally, not just know about Him.Thrasher covers many aspects of God's character and nature, including these: personable, unchanging, all-knowing, all-powerful, holy, faithful and true, love, sovereign, gracious, and merciful. He shows what each aspect of God's character and nature mean to the reader both personally and practically, inspiring worship, and challenging areas of belief that might need to be [...]

    3. Is God knowable and if so what is God like?Bill Thrasher wrote this book to try and answer these questions.I will have to say I was very surprised with this book. It was much, much better than I thought it would be. The only way to describe it would be a theological devotional. He takes the attributes of God, describes them, then shows how they should change our lives. Knowledge should always lead to wisdom. We can not have wisdom without knowledge but we can have knowledge without wisdom. When th [...]

    4. "Because God is faithful, we can rely on His promises in all times, both good and bad. In key times, God WILL NOT abandon us.""e Ruler of the kings of the earth loves us! May God 'direct your (heart) into the love of God' (2 Thessalonians 3:5) as you trust Him to overwhelm you with His love.""Do we ever have to fear what might happen? No, because God has promised that His merciful comfort will be there for us, and it will always be sufficient."I have read numerous books on the attributes of God, [...]

    5. Let me say that theology is not really something I get into a lot. Especially this way. I used to when I was in school and ministry training. But it has been awhile. As of this book and author I have to say I did enjoy reading and doing some studying with this one. Being that it's format was more like a devotional it was different. And it made it more easily to get into it. Author Bill Thrasher has a way of making you comfortable with studying and his book even encouraged me to dig in deeper to [...]

    6. I rated this 3 stars because for me, I want not only information but also inspiration. I want the facts, as well as a story behind them (or at least some of them). I really appreciate how thorough Thrasher is in breaking down the different qualities of God and providing verses to back them up. But what turns me off is the staccato manner in which he does so. Occasionally he'll provide an anecdote or expound on a Bible passage, but there seems to me to be too much of a textbook or encyclopedic ap [...]

    7. I cannot believe I started this book with my mentor a year before my son was born! I think perhaps we need to meet more often :) I am pleased I chose to finish it when I did, however, seeing as it has blessed me abundantly, or rather seeing God clearly through His truth has. It is too easy to forget the true nature of our God due to the blinders of our own selfishness, self dependency, etc. Thrasher does an excellent job summarizing, referencing the scriptures, and encouraging his reader in a cl [...]

    8. I received this book for free from the first-reads giveaway. I sometimes read books on religion and I have to say that this is one of the best that I have seen so far. The book actually made me think deeply about the way I live my life and the things I do within it. It gives tons of scripture references that can be a little distracting as you are reading but you will get used to it after the first few chapters. Glory be to God!

    9. Wish I had more time, I would savor this book more often. I enjoy reading Dr. Thrasher's books slowly and in small chunks. I appreciate his simple way of writing and incorporating Scriptures that I often add to my 'favorite passage' lists.I know I'll get more time to focus on this book it just might be a few months.
