    1. A conman’s thefts at Ellie Quicke’s house inadvertently alerts Ellie that her widowed neighbor, a good friend of her late Aunt Drusilla, has gone missing. The police dismiss Ellie as an annoying busybody — until she’s proven correct in her suspicions.Who did in the hardy, wealthy widow Flavia Pryce? With a grasping stepdaughter, a thieving great-nephew by marriage, a shark-like estate agent, and more nasty relatives, Ellie has no shortage of suspects with excellent motives to make sure t [...]

    2. The Ellie Quicke series has been a series that I go back to catch up on Ellie's life. This is the 12th book in the series. The series has always been relaxing and interesting. The book was slow for me and while I liked it ok, it isn't one of my favorites in the series. What starts the plot moving, is when Ellie answers her door and an upset young man is asking for information about his aunt who didn't arrive at the nursing home. She was the next door neighbor of Ellie's. She seems to have disapp [...]

    3. This English mystery is certainly a cozy. Ellie who is responsible for administering a trust for good works left to her, is the main character. I found her sweet and a bit naïve but also strong when she has to be. She has great powers of deduction. When an elderly neighbor is nowhere to be found and her remaining relatives start appearing looking for her wanting her money, Ellie finds enough strange things happening that peak her interest. When her housekeeper insists she saw a face in the atti [...]

    4. As this is my go to series for an easy read - I should, perhaps, rate them as such. For about the first 7/8 of this book - I found it vastly superior to the last few I have read in order. There was some humor and characters had some flaws - there was less of the dear Rose and dear Ellie stuff. Thomas was even annoyed with Ellie for a very brief moment (when she made an uninformed comment about a car). But the final few pages were a disappointment as Ellie launched off into an imitation of Hercul [...]

    5. It took me a few chapters to get involved in this story but then found that I really liked it. It involves Ellie who runs a charitable trust, her husband, Thomas, and various and sundry characters around them. A neighbor, Mrs. Pryce, planned on moving to a retirement home and then disappeared. Ellie keeps asking questions, ultimately finds her body, and points her not-so-friendly police officer to the murderers.

    6. I find a few things remarked on in the book to be prejudiced. Overall it was good but depicted those over 60 as typical old ladies with silver hair.

    7. Moved quickly and enjoyed reading. Was a bit of a challenge trying to get track of all of the characters and who was who, but a good light read

    8. Ellie Quicke has too many problems - what with the increasing frailty of her housekeeper, and friend, Rose and her demanding daughter Diana wanting her financial help yet again. So when two people obliquely ask for her help in finding Flavia Pryce - a near neighbour or Ellie's - she feels somewhat overwhelmed. But circumstances conspire to persuade her that she does need to get involved. What follows is a well told story of murder and mayhem involving a very dysfunctional family and some less tha [...]

    9. The story is mostly about trying to find out what happened to the missing neighbor. She's supposed to go to a retirement home, but never shows up. What happened to her? Did she take off on her own or become the victim of foul play? This is #12 of the series, but the first I've read. I found the main character Ellie rather confusing. On the one hand, she has a quick mind for puzzles, but on the other hand, she comes across as rather weak and unsure of herself. It's a personal thing, but I like my [...]

    10. Ellie Quicke is still getting involved in mysteries and missing people much to the dismay of the local police. The usual characters are involved, her wonderful second husband Thomas, friend and housekeeper, Rose, Stewart, her ex son-in-law as well as the worst daughter in the world, Diana. A young man appears at Ellie's door demanding money and the whereabouts of his elderly aunt. This sets off the hunt for a missing neighbor while Ellie also has to deal with Diana's latest demands. It appears t [...]

    11. I like the main character and her friends. the plot itself was not exciting except for where the woman investigating the murder is the victim of an attempted murder by her spoiled, vane daughter who nearly throws an electriacl appliance into her mom's bathtub!

    12. Not my favorite of the series but still a good book. It might be that it has been a while since I read this series. I love the protagonist and the mystery was well done.
